K maybe not boat raced but considering what we did to NW and we about to possibly hire PSU DC I'm a little concerned and can't see why yall don't see red flags.

For those on the fence about Jancek and or other staff leaving:

One item to consider is Jancek's departure may have not been entirely on field related.

Another is a DC at Shoop's level may want at least one guy of his own.

Finally Shoop coaches DB's so that is an overlap.

Hubbs just said that Shoop is the runaway candidate and that Hoke is number 2. He said Both have been contacted by the university. Chizik has not been contacted.

Probably because the rest of us are able to use the tools at our disposal on the interwebs to see that Shoops defenses have been better than JJs by any metric you want to use. When you factor in that he's done it with much less talent and it makes you look silly for seeing so many "red flags".

Hoke is helluva recruiter. He trended down as the Mich HC in the W-L column but he left Harbaugh enough talent to compete right away. I'm not informed enough about his DC prowess to make a judgment about him being an upgrade.

I think whoever we hire will be an upgrade. Jancek was a decent coordinator but from what I've heard on his personal side he was a bit strange and moody. Several players have stated that it wasn't a bad thing that we let him go. There was one player that said he was "crazy". I think Jones made the right choice. He was costing us in recruiting to this year which is never a good thing.

If this were to happen, I wonder if our other coaches woukd feel slighted and take offence to that figure? Thats a lot of dough for just one coordinator.

I would imagine that if Shoop is hired at, say 1.25 mil per, that we will see significant raises for DeBord and the position coaches.

Oh I would love for Shoop to come to Knoxville I just refuse to get my hopes up at all. He turned down LSU last year and Auburn recently so that just leads me to believe he is content in Happy Valley right now.

Wilcox did a fine job in the two years we had him and I don't blame him jumping off the SS Dooley before it sank.

I think Hart was always willing to spend the cash, but wasn't willing to until he was 100% sure Butch was the man. I think Shoop wants to be here... at least that's what I am telling myself, haha.

He had 2 great years out of 5 at LSU, most notably the NC in 03. That was his 4th year so all yhe players were his and he was recruiting well. In the 9 years at Bama, only his first year was bad. The other 8 have unfortunately been superb. What was the difference vs the first 10 years as a college coach? The level of talent. So a not the best coach, became something special when he got better talent.
My point is, if it is Shoop, Chizik, or someone of equivalent ability, they stand a good chance to become great with the talent upgrade they will inherit on our defense. We are Tennessee. We will succeed. We will win.
