"What a turn of events" is just hilarious to me. That's the best phrase he could come up with on such a monumental and historic play?

It is strange to me that he sounds like a bland news anchor. I thought that all teams have homers on their OWN networks. Why is it ok for Tennessee, that has a lot of tradition, to have sir buzz killington as anchor for the Vol network lmao?

That's mostly what I think sucked. The initial "touchdown" was ok, it was everything after that was so lame.

It's like if instead of screaming "THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT!", Russ Hodges had said "Hey Giants win, that was neat!"

I actually liked his call, he has a good voice. After seeing a few other highlights with radio voiceovers last night, and realizing how unprofessional they are, I'm even more impressed with Bob.

Bob is bland at times, and frustrating if you're listening to the game and not watching it, but he isn't nearly as bad as some other SEC play-by-play guys. I have to rush to hit the mute button when Florida's guy is played on TV.

I don't get the criticism directed at Kesling.... He shouted "The pass is......... Caught!!!!! For a Tennessee touchdown!!!!!!!" I could hear the happiness in his voice, but apparently he sucks because he doesn't call it exactly like John Ward. :pardon:

It's because he sucks. He doesn't paint a picture, slow on down and distance..... just generally not very good.

For real....... one of the wildest finishes of any college game and that's all he could come up with?...,pitiful

Not everything is perfect in life, and it sure isn't as glorious as you all would demand. He didn't come up with an adolescent punk one liner like Munson or call it like ward, but Bob did a fine job.

No one is asking for perfect or even glorious; we simply disagree he did a "fine job".

Why is this being discussed? Everyone here already is aware of Kesling and his lack of enthusiasm during broadcasts. This is nothing new. He's tortured us since 1999.

Because we can?

A better question is why are you posting in the thread if you don't think it deserves discussion? Do you normally get involved in discussions about things you don't think need to be discussed?

I agree! He said at the catch "what a turn of events".

Bob sux!

They should have something in their back pocket, like Larry Munsons hobnail boot, at the ready when it finally happens.
Bob, who is a humorless, boring, stiff of an announcer let Vol nation down with his non call of that catch and the aftermath.
Boring announcers do what boring announcers do.
Our program deserves better.
But, there is little to no public outcry for UT to can him.
He's a nice guy that's been around forever.
He's not offensive in any way.
He's just boring.

Would like for the Voice of the Vols to sound like he is for the Vols when you hear him on the radio. I personally don't like not knowing who the announcer is employed by.

Bob has never gotten a fair shake from our fans. It's hard to follow in the footsteps of a legend. I personally think he does a good job.

I actually think he does better in basketball, which seems more natural to him.

I wouldn't say I'm that emotionally involved in this thread. Lol. Your butt hurt knee Jerk reactions to my posts, however, show that you clearly are emotionally involved. I'll leave you alone so you can continue to rant about Kesling in your insulated bubble. Enjoy the win.

I don't have a problem with Bob, But on this call it was a LAME call. Pretty much sucked on such a AWESOME ending!!!!!:rock:

When they were looking for someone to replace John Ward, it was announced that there would be a nationwide search for Ward's replacement. After that nationwide search they settled on this buffoon?

Living in Chattanooga, you can listen to a half dozen broadcasts of college games. Every play-by-play announcer I listen to makes Kesling sound like a fool. Hell, even the announcers for the high school games do a much better job than this guy.

This seems like a pretty dumb thing to be upset about. It wasn't the best call, Kesling has never been good, but Tim Preist had great energy and his reaction made up for the lackluster Bob Kesling call.

Bob isn't even average.

He's boring and bland.

I don't know how he even got the job when Mike Keith wanted it, but saw the writing on the wall and left to take the job with the Titans.

Keith is everything that Vol fans expect in a radio broadcaster, he's descriptive, creative, informative, and a complete homer.

In the ranking of things people get "upset" about on this forum, it doesn't even make the Top 50.

Basketball is where I really miss John Ward. No one who has ever lived described the action on the floor better than John. Level of difficulty in calling a basketball game is double football.

His call of the game winning hail mary....SUCKED. Here we have an iconic, historic moment in UT football history, and the dude announces it in the tone like a guy who is pleasantly surprised to find out the breakfast buffet has extra pancakes.

Instead of getting a classic call like John Ward used to give, we get "What a surprising turn of events!".

Are you kidding me?
Totally agree
