more benefits.
Nobody likes their taxes raised, but when I see any referendums that ask for a 1/4 cent increase that is earmarked only for police, fire, military, or teachers, I vote yes.
These people provide invaluable services to everyone and they are all grossly underpaid, imho.

I would support a red white and blue out as a way to flip the bird to all the America haters that seem to get all the attention these days.

You must not have seen the show the fans put on last week at Bristol. The greatest display of national pride I have ever seen. 150,000 plus making that showing made hair stand up on my arms, and neared me to tears.. GO VOLS FANS, GO VA TECH FANS, GO USA!!!

If this idea catches on, fans will be obligated to wear blue or fear of looking like you "don't support cops" or looking like the "Vols are too big of a priority in your life". Cop support is trendy now, even though a large majority of the population actually supports them. Businesses are raking in the dough by doing the LEO recognition events/making merchandise to sell, and with the unfortunate event of a local officer giving the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, it will not stop any time soon.

However, I do not see the University of Tennessee supporting this idea and advertising it, as they are heavily invested in gaining the support of minorities (who would find a way to view this as a recognition of prejudice and hate) in order to achieve their ultimate goal of becoming a "Top 25 University".

I 100% support the idea of recognizing police officers and their support staff, as I have over a half dozen family members that wear the badge, but I don't believe that this is the best way to show our support. Less than 5% of fans in attendance will wear blue and it will look as if we do not support those who serve us.

While we are at it we might as well do a Pink-Out for breast cancer awareness.

cops and football mix like religion and politics (obvs support the men and women behind the shield)
they should be separate
if only everyone would keep it that way...its oil and water folks
just no, no, no, no......

Would be cool to see a stripe (black sandwiching blue) around the middle of the stadium, maybe 15-20 rows all the way around and everyone else in orange. Would be a more clear meaning.

I appreciate law enforcement and emergency personnel and respect them and the jobs they do, but I'm tired of messages and politics in everything and at every turn. I'm going to watch a football game. I want to be distracted from life for a few hours. I vote no. Let folks wear the orange and escape for a bit.

This is the dumbest thing I've read all day on VN and that really says a lot. Give a standing ovation or something. I hate politics with a passion and do not want it overshadowing my favorite thing. I appreciate cops and the sacrifices that they make but please no to this.

Why blue?? Has nothing to do with Tennessee except for some light trim on the Lady Vol's uniforms. It is too hot for a blackout.

I totally missed the purpose of the blue out. I think it is a good idea and could help improve the attitude many fans and students have toward those who are there to protect our cities, counties, and States.

For those that actually want to do something why not just tie a blue ribbon around your arm or wrist? That won't overshadow anything.

Wear orange and tell a police offer "thank you" for what a great job they do. That will mean more to them than wearing blue.
