Winners and Losers from Week 6 of College Football | Bleacher Report

Hard to disagree. The honeymoon is over (as another poster stated). Butch has all the sayings, energy, and recruiting momentum... But it's time for him to take make some changes in a game and stop getting out coached. We are wayyyy to conservative and the scheme we run (read option without a mobile qb) doesn't work. No more excuses... We need to win a few of these rivalry games. Nobody expected us to compete for a championship but we also don't expect him to get out coached at home by muschamps and the worst Florida team we've seen in a decade!

Its a process

We look no different than last yr on offense....we have the advantage at WR yet how many times did we give our big WR'S a chance to go get the ball against cover 1? Middle school OCs have enough common sense to know when a team plays cover 1 75% of the time u have to try to go deep some. ..Instead we run quick screens that pick up 3 yds because it's man coverage. We had the ball in the RZ after a turnover, threw 3 incomplete passes and kicked a FG. It was terrible playcalling. He has some good plays but most of the time he calls them at stupid times and it ends up hurting us.

It is a process and the honeymoon is over but he still gets 2.5 more years to get us there at the minimum. We couldn't pass down field against Florida because we had no time. The one downfield play we tried Worley got his clock cleaned and it resulted in a FL score. We abandoned the mustang package because our guys couldn't run it. So, we only had the read option without the option and quick screens and slants. He made some tactical errors in the game by abandoning the run in the 4th quarter. It is what it is. The margin for error with this team is so unbelievably small. In practice he needs to continue to work on pass blocking assignments and the mustang package.

Part of that I believe is Worley. When he goes to the line he has a running option or a passing option and he calls one or the other based on what he sees. In this game he was making the wrong calls.

Pretty sure UF blanketed our WRs with safeties over the top. We couldn't block a three man rush

That's exactly what they did. They ran a cover two or three at times and stopped the rest of our offense with six players. We somewhat panicked offensively during the game.

THIS. Had to listen to the game on the radio. Tim Priest said a couple of times that we had four and five guys on the DL with their hands down and FL beat them with three of theirs. WTH?? Is this true?

And somebody out there help me understand something: we have 14 OL on scholarship (13 effectively with Gilliam out) and that group yesterday was the best we could do?

And it is time to name names, freshmen or not:

Who on the OL had all those stupid penalties? Who had more than one?

Who on the OL got beat more than once and gave up sacks?

The winningest teams have dual threat QBs, the pocket spread is to predictable and the D pins their ears and rushes up the field like a full on jail break. Expect UTC to blitze CBs off the edge, it's common knowledge we can't block it (still).

You are wasting your time. Atleast there's a thread now so all these "vol fans" can hash it out together about how Mike Baj. blows and CBJ is all meat no potatoes. It'd be different if they wanted Mahoney fired; he's the real issue to our o-line problems considering he's recruiting and coaching them. Last year Mike Baj. and CBJ proved their system can run the ball very effectively. I guess that doesn't account for anything...

This^^^^*. Teams are getting at us in less than 2 seconds with just a 3 man rush. Pretty easy to pass cover that. The one and simple truth in this league is if you can't run the football you ain't s***. We will never be a good team again until we can run the ball.

Problem is this:
1. FL is a good team who has had 3 OC in four years. Sound familiar?
2. FLs DL dominated us. Fowler is the best DE in the country IMO.
3. FL has lock down CBs. We threw over the top on UGA and that's why our offense looked so much better against UGA. FL locked up our WRs and their S did a great job preventing long throws towards the middle of the field.
4. Our WRs and RBs didnt finish plays. No separation by our WRs. No broke tackles for long runs by our RBs. etc...
5. Our o-line blows. It's that simple. It's a combination of Mahoney's coaching and our talent level.

Florida was off last week. So they had two weeks to get ready. We are still playing without Von and J.Smith. Both are good recievers.

That just about says it all.
We are still a growing team.
Have to be patient.
