The UT staff called a pretty good game on both sides of the ball tonight. They players looked focused and confident.
The offense was on the field for only 23:29 but gained 361. We ran 34 times for 213 yards = 6.3 ypc! [Vs. UGA, we ran 40 times for 197 = 4.9 ypc.] Bray did his usual 52% vs. SEC teams, but made several very nice throws.
The D didn't give up any long plays tonight (a major improvement), just a lot of short and middle critical plays. None of the D heroics we grew accustomed to under Majors and Fulmer.
Bottom Line: Until we recruit elite D talent that can shrink the field, we're going to be a 7-5 team no matter who is the HC. IMO, Sal can do that...but there's no quick answer.

I'm as big a Dooley supporter as anyone, but this team was flat out-coached tonight, plain and simple. We have a hell of a lot more talent than MSU.
I've taken up for Dooley as much as everyone in here, but i certainly would not call that a well-called game. Dooley is only as good as the coaches he hires, and I really question hiring Sal. He might be a great long term guy, but Dooley HAD to win this year. Not exactly a good time to change your defense over.
I think we have talent on both sides of the ball, but our coordinators are killing us. 3rd and one, bomb it when your defense has been on the field about the entire time. Next drive, 3rd and four, bomb it. Doesn't make sense. And Sal giving up 3rd and 19 and 3rd and 10, is not good.

Not blaming Dooley but definitely Sunseri. He does not call a very good game. We can't get pressure with our fronts but yet he won't blitz in long passing situations. Brewer on Bumphis late in the game is on him on the 3rd down conversion. The guys not being disciplined in their zones and assignments fall on player and coach. I'll hand it to him he made adjustments and did much better the second half, but the first half is what beat us.
So you're gonna blame the guy that's been here 6 games but let the guy that's been here 3 years have a pass?
