This is nuts, I’m watching the replay of the game now.

I don’t know what’s crazier, the fact that they had multiple guys over the age of 20 playing, That they played a game on Sunday after playing on Friday night, or that no one at espn or the marketing firm who set up the game did any kind background on this “school” before agree to broadcast the game.

Crazy the announcers resorting to "These kids could get hurt". Of course they can, but this will be something they will tell their grandkids, how they pulled a fast one on the sports establishment. Announcers clearly ticked off when the reality soaks in. I love it. Kinda like the NFL strike when they suited up about anyone. Crappy football, but who cares. Under the circumstances fun to watch.

I'm sorry, I can't get with that. These players' health was put at serious risk for no other reason than to prop up a phony school scam. There is nothing fun about that.

Was the game not scheduled anyway? And if not, why would IMG agree to play a non-scheduled game? According to the Yahoo article, they played last year as well and IMG won 56-6.

The dupe is ESPN airing it and that is actually hilarious. That fact that it was played and safety is a concern is someone else's screw up. Right?

I think the game was scheduled by Paragon, this marketing firm that ESPN uses to organize their high school games. I'm willing to bet that if someone were to look into Paragon they would find some really shady stuff.

Where did the name "Bishop Sycamore" come from? I can't imagine there has ever been an actual Bishop Sycamore. Is it named for a special tree?

Most of the great football teams in ohio are private catholic schools with catholic names. it actually sounds right at home. a guy called into ohio radio this morning and said they were originally connected with a church organization that was going to build a sports complex. The church pulled for what ever reason (i can think of a few, but it could have been covid related I guess), and Leeroy Johnson appears to been the recipient of the name. It's also come out there was a lot of exploitation going on with these guys trying to get their names out there. The coaches didn't have money for food, so they had to steal to eat etc....

someone was getting paid tho.

I wonder if Paragon got duped too (and in turn ESPN got duped) or if Paragon was in on it. I would assume not, especially if Paragon has set up ESPN with legit games over the years.

I think that’s my favorite part of this story: the initials spell B.S. 😂

Must be in the same division as South Harmon Institute of Technology.
