I’ll tell you Jay.

Tennessee lost 5 games, all against teams good enough to be in the NCAA tournament

Mich St lost at least 2 games, one at home, to a team that wasn’t worthy of a NCAA bid (Indiana)

Just because you have a law degree doesn’t make you very intelligent.

They also lost to Illinois, and while they had a ton of good wins they really only beat one real good team..... Mich

Tennessee on the other hand had no bad losses and while they didn’t have a “ton” of good wins they had plenty and they had 3 great wins.

Is there any type of animosity between Grant Williams and Jay Bilas from the AAU days? Away from games, he always goes out of his way to not mention Grant when it comes to Tennessee basketball.
I have wondered this. Out of all the BS media paranoia, this issue is the only one that remotely holds any water.

This forum has seriously made me sick with all the whining about ESPN and refs. Cesspool of crybabies.

GBO!!

Mich state deserved to be ahead of us to be honest. Very impressed they beat Mich 3 times. Conference titles were the diffence imo

They also lost to Louisville, who the Vols beat. The two resumes aren’t comparable. No one gives Mich a chance to get to the final four. Most give Kentucky, a team Tennessee beat twice, a good chance.

It's imperfect that's for sure but imo they should have been a 1 seed.

They had 13 Q1 wins( compared to our 9) and won their regular season and tourney championships.

Well, we don’t know how good the Big Ten really is. We’ll find out I guess.

I listened to a fairly lengthy interview with Bilas before the SEC tourney and he went out of his way to say how classy Grant was and what a great leader he was. He has nothing but respect for Grant. There is no animosity. He believes Grant is one of the best players in the country.

Who cares just win. Our loss was a blessing in disguise. Getting the #1 seed out west and having to play the Zags in the E8 would have been terrible. Also I’d much rather have our matchups than UK. Wofford and Houston would have been tough to get past.

The big 10 is one of the best conferences top to bottom. Regardless Michigan st has a worse resume than we do. And lost to a common opponent.

While I agree with some of what you stated..... if you include the “entire” body of work..... Mich ST lost to Indiana twice and lost to Illinois..... that prob is what kept them behind Tennessee.
M ST had more good wins, but Tennessee had better wins, M ST won the B10 and while Tennessee didn’t they were just one game off from winning the regular and the championship. But Tennessee did not have 3 losses to teams that are not in the tourney.
I’m sure it was close but I really believe those 3 losses must have held a bit more weight.

It's never a blessing in disguise when you lose a championship. Especially when you haven't won the SEC tournament in 40 years. I'm tired of people thinking that losing is somehow is virtuous and great. I totally disagree. And just because we get an easier bracket doesn't mean we will take advantage of that either.
