I don't know why people say this. I don't care at all if they are at full strength. I want to win. Was our national championship In 98 any less glorious because we didn't face Weinke? Not to me nor, I suspect, the vast majority of Vol fans.

I think people say this because they don’t want to have to endure the inevitable “verbal asterisk” that gets attached to every future discussion about victories achieved against opponents who, at the last minute, were forced to play a big game without a player who was known to be a game-changer.

I get your point, too. Heck yeah, I want the Vols to win regardless of, well, ANYthing else. But a victory after taking an opponent’s best shot with all their best players giving their all at their young, healthy best? That’s the kind of win nobody can ever say, “Yeah, BUT....” about.
