Big Charles Mosley will not be dismissed

70% might be high but on campus it's crazy how many people smoke. Most that do smoke prefer smoking in their car. Either way my opinion is its legal in multiple states and its a lot safer than cigs or alcohol so it shouldn't be too big of a deal. But that's just my opinion. If only our fan base knew how many players smoke weed it would be hilarious. If we suspended every player that smokes we wouldn't have many players. It's just not a big deal anymore honestly. To the younger generation and outside of the Bible Belt it's the same thing as grabbing a beer with the guys/girls.

Just a bit of advice coming from someone who's been in your shoes: move off campus. Find an apartment or house where you can smoke safely. If you keep smoking in parked cars and/or driving around to find a place to smoke, you're probably gonna get busted at some point. It's legal in a lot of places (and should be legal anyway), but it isn't. Legally, they can give you a DUI if you're intoxicated in a car with the keys in the ignition (even if the car is off). Don't risk your future and/or future employment opportunities by smoking somewhere that makes you a sitting duck or a danger to yourself or others.

Per Hubbs

Certainly, both Charles Mosley and Justin Martin have reached out with heartfelt gestures. Both players have profusely apologized, for different reasons, while also vowing greater accountability to themselves and their teammates. There's even been talk of someone or even multiple players reaching out to athletics director Dave Hart to both apologize and make clear this Tennessee team doesn't believe any of these hiccups remotely are indicative of what this team intends to represent.

Again, Mosley's ownership of the situation impressed both coaches and teammates alike.

Can someone briefly summarize why Oliver is off the team and Mosley remains? Thank you.

TIFWIW, but I have it from a source in the know that Butch had the two play Rock Paper Scissors (best 3/5) for who gets to keep their scholarships and apparently Oliver thought that rock never loses.

Brief summary: we don't know.

But Butch does. Maybe Oliver copped an attitude to the coaches. Maybe he said he's not taking the drug tests any more. Maybe he told a coach to shove it. Maybe during the recruitment, drug trouble in HS came up and Butch let Oliver know he was on a shorter leash because of it.

Bottom line is, we don't know. There's a ton that goes on that we'll never find out about.

Just gotta trust your coach. He knows all the stuff we don't.

Bingo. Actions prior to an offense and after an offense, can play huge factors.

I can tell you.

Oliver reportedly failed a drug test within a month of being on campus. Then, Oliver was found to have contributed to Mosley getting into trouble. He failed a 2nd drug test when he lied to coaches saying he'd stopped smoking weed and was not smoking the night Mosley got arrested.

Oliver was deemed a bad seed who was being a bad teammate and getting others into trouble. Mosley was deemed a kid who made a mistake and was genuinely sorry for it. The likelihood Mosley gets in trouble again is extremely low. He's a good kid. The likelihood Oliver would have had more issues was very high.

TIFWIW this info comes from a previous starter on the team from 2013.

Didn't he fail a 3rd test as well?

I think that's hear say. No way a kid could fail 2 drug tests within that short of time and still be given another chance, which is exactly what happened. Failing 2 before you ever put a uniform on is ridiculous enough.

Moreover, I just talked to the former player. They don't do monthly drug tests, it's more like every quarter ("random") with an extra few during the actual season. So the first one he failed was "random" and the second one was "we think you're lying go pee in this cup". No possible way they've had 3 random drug tests since he came to campus.

Just an opinion:

Mosley wasn't actually high and he will be found innocent of his charges. He even willingly submitted to a blood test.

Nah, he was high lol. But not something he's known to do. That's why he struggled to conceal it.
