And OP. I honestly don't care if I've heard of the hire or not. I just want the hire to know what they are doing and get it done. It's not like I, you, or 99.7% of the people on this board have a clue who will be best.

There was no Gruden fiasco, he was never coming here. There were no “insiders” just a group of people trolling the board. There are a couple people here with some connections but they don’t perpetuate rumors

Imagine Will Friend coaching the OL and OC , Tn may never get another 1st down. Almost wants to make you want to puke

Enos makes the most sense.

It wouldn't surprise any of us if Will Friend is promoted, but what would Pruitt do for a QB coach in that scenario? His best option would then be to move Wienke to QB because we aren't hiring a proven QB coach without giving them the OC title. We'd then have unproven guys at OC and QB coach... not ideal heading into the make-or-break stretch of Pruitt's opportunity at Tennessee. I think he'll go after a more proven candidate for his own good.

Just like Bob Shoop couldn't succeed with UT's dearth of talent on the defensive side of the ball, any OC will struggle to look successful at UT next year. Shoop was a defensive genius before he got here and this year at Miss State, his defense led the nation in TDs allowed.......playing in the SEC West! Because he had talent that he didn't have a UT.

There is no genius hire for Tennessee who will make this collection of players a juggernaut offense.

It absolutely matters. Part of the job of the new OC is going to be to recruit better players and develop the existing roster to the best of his ability. Personally, I am not expecting a miracle next year. I simply expect to see progress . . . and more in year three . . . and more in year four, etc. I believe you give any coach as long as it takes to see him hit his ceiling.

Odds are they are already in Knoxville and better odds than that are the new OC will get a lot of negavol action as soon as they are announced.
