Better Call Saul

Mike's a lot like Tony Soprano from a personal standpoint, is he a good guy who does bad things to make a living; or a bad guy with an occasional soft moment? Probably both, opportunistic and prudent. Makes for a fascinating character.

Mike's code seems to be much different from TS in the sense that Mike doesn't/hasn't yet hurt someone who is not in the game. Mike's not kicking the **** out of civilians for disrespecting him. He's more calculated, practical, and doesn't seem to like violence, though he'll use it as a means to an end.

Mike definitely has a code he adheres to whether it be with criminals or others.

Im going to disagree here. Tony was the protagonist of the Sopranos but had he had a pretty deplorable moral compass. He did have a soft spot for his family, but overall he was a selfish egotistical sociopath.

Mike does some bad things, but compared to Tony he is a saint with better redeeming qualities.

So, maybe Mike is the reason Salamanca ends up in a wheelchair?

Is he going to catch him doing something against the cartel, dime on him, and that's how he gets in with Gus? Not sure how that would work.

I think he's why he's in a wheelchair. Maybe he gets with Gus for protection?

This season is very disappointing. Slow and boring, uninteresting, nay, exponentially unexciting. I am on the verge of just quitting watching it altogether.

Wow, think this season is fantastic so far. Only slight complaint if I was really being nit picky would be at times it feels like two completely different shows, the Jimmy show and the Mike show. But they're both so damn good that I don't really mind that small detail.

BCS is a slow burn. I love it for that very reason. Well written, well acted great character development, and generally lovable.

Now that was a boring episode. I did love the line:

"Your best printer! Di di mao!"

That was probably the slowest episode of the series, but I still liked it mostly. It was too much lawyer stuff, and I don't think they needed the "Jimmy doctors documents" montage to be as long as it was.

But man every time Mike is on screen is just awesome, even when he's just watching TV.

Basically the past episodes have been a good mix of Jimmy and Mike's separate stories, and last night was too much Jimmy, not enough Mike.

As long as it helps build an awesome story, I'm totally fine with a boring episode, here and there.

I actually really enjoyed it. I love to hate Chuck and Howard. And watching them do their aww shucks routine to get back the clients was awesome to watch. Felt so bad for Kim. That sets up Jimmy's doctoring of the documents revenge perfectly. Agreed that more Mike in the episode would have been better but still enjoyed as it was.

And there are so many great foreshadowing things that go on at just the right time. While Kim was telling Jimmy how HHM had taken her client from her, the camera was focused on her face, but Jimmy's "slippin' Jimmy" pinky ring was prominently featured in the shot. Then after he reassures Kim that he still wants to do the shared building for independent law firms, you can tell he is really questioning his direction. He is itching to become Saul.

Anyone have a theory of how the name James McGill gets so tainted that he creates the pseudonym Saul Goodman?

He already used the name last season in his scamming with his friend, so we already know how/where he created it.

As to why he takes the name fulltime you mean? Not sure other than I think something really bad happens with his brother.

It could just be marketing - "...then my name ain't Nathan Arizona".

He probably does taint the name, but even still...as an ambulance chaser, his target clients don't care about his good/bad name.

When they were showing the containers @the beginning, I fully expected them to turn it around and see the los pollos hermanos logo.

He explained to Walt in BB that it was for the Jewish lawyer angle.
