Best WR ever at UT

when i think of best ever, i have to think of guys that were game changers. i loved Kent and Nash, but they were of the same mold. Good WR.

but the game changers.......Gault, Morgan, Pickens and to a lesser extent Price are the ones that stick out. with Gault being tops of that list.

Gault
Price
Pickens
Kent
Nash (I always liked him)
Witten (awesome TE)

Can't believe you were the only one to mention Nash. I always thought he was good too. Anyway, my vote is for Pickens, with Price a close second.

you can really start to get an idea of hte overall demographic of this board with threads like this.

I believe Carl Pickens was the best to ever wear the Orange jersey. He commanded a double team every time and still made catches. The one handed grab on 4th and about 10 against Notre Dame back in 90 was one of the best catches I've seen under pressure.

by career: Joey Kent

by season: Meachem

by game: Kelley Washington

You're pretty young aren't you. None of those guys are even close to top 5

Larry Seivers
Tim McGee
Stanley Morgan
Carl Pickens
Alvin Harper
Donte Stallworth
Peerless Price

Any of you guys who didn't see Larry Seivers missed out. The guy could catch anything.
Was a two-time first team AA....(AP, Coaches). He made more big catches than anyone who has ever worn the orange and white.

Seivers and MOrgan played together
Pickens,Harper and Anthony Morgan played together
Stallworth, Washington and Parker played together
Price, Kent and Nash played together
McGee, Clinkscales and Swanson played together
Gault, Hancock and Wilson

Our starting receivers this season (rogers, briscoe and taylor) would have NEVER seen the field in any year with the exception of maybe 2002.

Probably Pickens and Price for skill
Eric Swanson and Tim McGee for heart...didn't seem to matter if Swanson was covered or not, he would just take the ball away from the DB

Honorable mention to Joey Kent

No to Willie Gault, he was fleet but he heard footsteps and would drop the pressure catch.

Kenny O'Neal anyone? According to some during the spring he would turn out to be the best in only one year...

Actually, my vote is for Pickens although Price played big in big games.

I had forgotten about him....he made the catch in the clutch on several occasions!

Yeah, I wonder what he's up to these days, an acrobatic juggler maybe??? He could do it. I remember a couple occasions of him juggling the ball and coming down with it.

Carl Pickens
Tim McGee
Larry Seivers
Anthony Morgan
Thomas "TD" Woods
Joey Kent
Peerless Price
and of course Willie Gault

That guy could catch a greased water mellon if you threw it anywhere near him.

Very good list and I tend to agree with it.

Kent is probably top 6, but his numbers benefited from longevity and Manning throwing it so often. I'd take Pickens, Morgan, McGee, Sievers over him. And maybe Meachem.

Carl Pickens and Tim McGee are the two best I've ever seen. It probably didn't hurt that it was impossible to roll the coverage toward Pickens since he had Alvin Harper on the other side.

thats true. and taking pickens and mcgee over kent is something i can see, and maybe morgan too. but there is no way i would take meachem over kent.

Kent averaged something like 15.4 yards per catch, whereas Meachem is over 17 yards per catch with a vastly inferior QB.

I know he had a decent NFL career, but I don't think Anthony Morgan was ever the leading receiver at UT. In fact, I'm not sure he even started.
