I've been to a few pig roasts in my day. Nothing better than sitting around drinking beer and roasting a hog. It's time consuming but well worth it.

He also roasted a half a deer, but it never saw the light of day. All the helpers consumed it before dawn, best venison I ever had.

Broyles and/or Bill, have you ever went to Brad's Pitt BBQ? It is a little trailer w/ a huge smoker to the side of it in front of the moonlite on Lee highway. It is delicious, cheap, and fast. I go there all the time.

Ain't gonna happen.

The best pork I've had was at a party where a guy roasted a whole pig in a pit overnight. I helped so I got to finger pick the rib meat right off the hog. We just stood there pulling handfuls of the best tasting pig. Then I found out the guy had won the North Carolina Pig Roasting State Championship. He is a Prof at NC State.

yup...love that ol Lexington, NC BBQ.

Went to the Memphis BBQ festival last night. I had several helpings of ribs and pulled pork BBQ. It was definitely some of the best I've had in my entire life. The baked beans I ate last night were definitely the best I've ever consumed.

For pulled pork, I have to go with Firehouse in Johnson City. I think it's better than Pardner's and Ridgewood. Honestly, Red Pig's pulled pork is incredibly delicious, but Firehouse wins because they have better sauce.

For ribs though, Ridgewood is close. There's a place in Erwin that makes incredible ribs that beats them though, but for the life of me, I can't think of their name.

However, there is a gentleman that is a friend of my family, named Jim Bob... no i'm not making that up... that outshines any bbq I've ever had in any restaurant, pulled pork, ribs or chicken.

For sides, Pardner's wins hands down.

There's a new place called 12 Bones in downtown Kingsport. It's getting a lot of good buzz. You should definitely try it out.

Cannot tell you who made the best BBQ pork I've ever had, but it was at the GMAC tent before a Bristol night race 8 years ago. I assume it was from NE TN. And I've had Interstate.

Never even heard of it, but I will definitely try it if I can find it.

It has gotten all sorts of good buzz, but I haven't made it out to kingsport to try it. Might have to take my father there for his bday or father's day next month.

They have some kind of ribs that I think have a blueberry sauce. It's really, really good eating.

thanks... Sounds like I have a small roadtrip in the near future.
It's not a big place or anything but it's just a little place you can go and pick up some BBQ. It's on the side of the road and they sale the food out of a little trailer. It is really good and cheap. You can get a really good large BBQ (beef or pork) sandwich for about 5 dollars.

With all this said Eastern North Carolina has the worse BBQ I have ever looked at, tasted, been a part of.

All my friends say I'm biased because I'm used to the Memphis style, but this stuff is nasty. Of course Memphis is my go-to-guy but I respect Kansas City and Texas Brisket and so on.

The BBQ "sauce" round these parts is vinegar with red crushed pepper in it. Awful, in my opinion. A good pig-picking is about all I will eat around here and I have to think about that.

i like Pittsburgh because they put fries on everything.

Doozer, the first time I had a steak salad was at my sister-in-laws bridal shower. I was "oh it comes with fries as a topping". I had never seen anything like that before.
