i'm usually not one to start these kinds of threads....."favorite players" "which team do you hate more" type stuff...but this game, just brings something out in me that only comes once a year. it's one that's worth a walk down memory lane as far as i'm concerned, so as we head in to the 2007 chapter of this game......what are your best memories of a game you attended or viewed?

For me, my first positive memory is obviously Dale Jones. I don't remember a whole lot about the rest of the game that day, but I'll remember Dale Jones forever because of that play against the Tide.

now it takes several more years for me to come up with another positive.....and that was 1993. that was the first Bama/TN game i saw in person. me and one of my best friends, a bama fan, drove down to B'ham from Memphis to take it in....$100 per ticket off the street and we were privy to one of the better games in the series. Vividly remember the crowd and the nervousness of them thruout, and Heath Shuler and Craig Faulkner's big TD throw and catch.

unfortunately, i also remember Jay Barker and David Palmer and the crowd's elation when the game ended in a tie.

at least i didn't have to ride all the way back to Memphis after a loss with my buddy who'd had the upper hand as long as i could remember.

1995, for obvious reasons. I was a student at TN by then and that night was the first "big" win i'd been around Knoxville for. truly a great day and night to be in Knoxville TN. 41-14. Gene Stallings walking off the feild in defeat and the visitors locker room smelling of cigars and ringing chants of "i don't give a damn about the whole state of Alabama, cause we're from Tennessee!!!!". Glorious.

1996. Got to see us beat the Tide in person, in a fashion i had become used to seeing us lose to the tide in. a late interception to seal the deal and break the crimson hearts of the Bama faithful. it was at that point i had a true understanding of the utter arrogance of the Bama fans, as they got back on their busses, looking at us and saying "yeah, well we're STILL Alabama". as if i some how cared at that point?

2003. the 5 OT thriller. now neither team was all that great. and the game was physical and a battle. i had the pleasure of watching the game with a friend of mine in Charlotte who is a Bama alum. and as the game wore on, i really regretted going over there, cause the thought of losing this game in this guy's house, really started to mess with my head. fortunately, it was i that was all smiles as the entire stadium, and household i was in, was left in heartbreak as TN pulled out a W in a game that neither team would forget anytime soon. I took great pleasure in that win, if for no other reason than you could tell that "the heart of dixie" had been broken.

2006. it wasn't pretty. it wasn't flashy. but it was a W after what i would call the biggest heart breaker for me the previous year, since the 90 game we lost 9-6. 6-3 the previous year just killed me and it was good to get back to winning ways against the tide, in any way shape or form.

so here we are on the eve of yet another tilt against the crimson tide. new coach. lots of fanfare for the 4 million dollar man. lots of anxiety for the 2 million dollar man. no law suits. no probation. just two teams in the SEC that control their own destiny for the conf. title, the way it should be.

here's to making another good memory on the third Saturday of October. Go Vols.

Jay Graham streaking down the sideline in 96 I believe? Had the best seats ever, 50yard line, first row upper deck.

Also, the Manning to Kent on the first play of the game 95.

2003. That 4th and twenty pass that allowed it to get to OT.... just stunning.

The first visual of UT/UA for me is Johnnie Jones down the sideline...

1995- I just remember being a freshman in High School and living in Birmingham I would always catch flack from the Bammers at school. I went to the game in 1993 and we were so close, but even though we didnt lose, it felt like a loss. The 1995 game was redemption. All I remember is that 1st play of the game to Joey Kent. I knew it was ball game after that play.

1996- "The Run"

1999- Best atmosphere at any game I have ever been to. Perfect football weather. Bama jumped out 7-0. We were up 14-7 and Tee ran a boot to the right side and took it to the house. 21-7 and "The Hand" was in the air.

2003- 5 OT Thriller

My favorite game in the series is definitely the '95 game. Being in Birmingham and just knowing that Peyton and the boys were going to end the streak. First play from scrimmage goes for 80 and a 7-0 lead. After the game, the UT section remained full for about an hour as everyone celebrated the victory. My friends and I ran into Chris Fowler and Craig James outside Legion Field and Fowler said, "This must be a great night for you guys." He was right.

Another great memory was the '96 win at home when Leonard Little stopped Alabama's final drive with a sack (Kitchens?). Leonard laid on the field for quite some time completely exhausted, but victorious.

I don;t know why I remember 1992 so well. I guess it partly has to do with my great seats. Also, maybe, with how we taunted Palmer, and maybe with how Johnny called a punt on 3rd down.
We lost, but I remember that game like it was yesterday.

"He gives the ball off, Graham. Trucking through the right side of the line. He's got running room. Graham turns the corner. He's at the 35. he's at the 40. to the 45 to the 50. 45,40. 35, 30... HE HAS SCORED!!! AND TENNESSEE GOES 80 WITH JAY GRAHAM. WHY NOT RUN IT EVERYTIME" the call from The one JOHN WARD

For me, there weren't many good UT-Ala memories in the days pre-Peyton. But I do remember Tony Robinson getting hurt in 1985, us all thinking we were screwed, and Darryl Dickey coming in and QBing the team to a huge victory that preceded the Sugar Bowl win over Miami. An up-and-down season that ended on a big up.

The 82 game stands out for me, I was in second grade the last time we beat them in 70, so throughout my school years I had doubts of ever beating them again. The games in 85 and 95 are also memorable. Worst memory, got to be the 90 game dont think Im over that yet.

the 95 41-14 route,

i was like 11 at the time, and most of my life my uncle had given me hell about alabama beating TN, then that year, the vols beat the tar out of the tide. Steve would call us whenever bama did good, but that game, he never answered his phone for some reason...

The 85' game with Tony Robinson going down. We had already beaten Auburn and Bo Jackson. I was just 10 but I remember my Dad jumping up and down when Dale Jones picked off Shula. He was so excited. That whoe year was awesome. Chris White, Daryl Dickey, Dale Jones, Tony Robinson. Awesome!!! I think that is when I really understood what UT meant to my Dad. And that season is my first memories of UT football.

Then the Peyton years. I remember turning down the volume and listening to John Ward on the radio. That pass to Joey Kent first play. Awesome!!

I have some bad ones to. But I don't like thinking of those. But that is what makes this game so good.

The '82 game, I guess because we hadn't beat them in so long. I was working at the World's Fair at the time, and just remember the whole place going nuts!
