Berry

Can't be worse than what we have. The more I start thinking about it the more nervous I get about next year.

Berry will be starting on defense. I doubt very seriously that he will see any meaningful playing time on offense.

I agree with that :eek:k:

It's not a good thing to have to depend on freshman wrs who aren't even on campus. I know they have talent but it's just going to be difficult to depend on them through a tough sec schedule.

I disagree, I think Berry will be used a lot at WR. With a talent like him, you have to get him on the field in whatever way possible. Sure, he won't be on the field every play on offense, but he will definitely be used at WR, whether it be on reverses or whatever, plus he will be used at QB as well, just hike it to him and let him run.

Would you like to make a $1,000 wager on an O/U of offensive snaps for Eric Berry in 2007?

Don't be too quick to throw out wagers like that. Teddy Ginn Jr was supposed to be a CB in college. He was put at receiver because he was faster than Michael Jenkins and Santonio Holmes (2 1st round picks).

Point being, Berry will be faster than any WR on our roster. There is going to be an opportunity for him to play alot. With the way Evans and Johnson looked in the O&W game (pretty good) the coaches would be idiots to keep him off the field. (Oxymoron I know)

I think he needs to worry about P. Harvin right now, not playing O.:good!:

I'm with you, look at UT's history(especially with Phil and Cut) and you won't see too many DB/WR/QBs in the mix. Jones did well that one year buy I would rather have Beery be great at DB and possibly returning kicks or punts than have him be try to do too much.

Why? The shape UT's receiving corp is in UT needs speed.

I totally agree but between Jones, O'neal, Vinson and some of the others they can surely find 1 or 2 of those guys that will step up and let Berry become a great corner. That's what I'm hoping for anyway.

He will be used on offense but only after he gets the defense down(which I think he starts by UF, maybe by Cal). Where he plays on offense is the question. I think he will play both QB(mustang package) and a little WR.

let's wager on how many snaps berry will take a QB..... you guys really buy the hype??????

when was the last true freshman who not only played DB and Wide out oh and played QB??????

Berry is not even on campus. Berry may see some offense snaps but not until he has his DB position down......

When and IF Berry sees the offensive side of the ball it will be very very limited.

pffftt! All 5 star recruits can excell at any position and can do anything! Surely Berry will be calling all offensive plays by the second quarter of the florida game. A laugh at those who think cutcliffe will keep his job with a talent like Berry coming in.

sadly enough, he could likely start at QB for Cal right now.

Mark Jones did pretty good too, but not as a true freshman that is just a lot to ask of a guy.

true, but he was the Cotton Bowl MVP in 1990 as a DB.......and he went on to be a 1st round draft pick as a WR........so the move from DB to WR worked out ok i'd say.
