If there is another place besides Tri Cities it would be Knoxville for me but for now I love the slow pace here. Good talking to you maybe I will see you in Bristol and if your not tailgating feel free to come to mine.I've lived here for a little more than 17 years now and it is a lot better than it was when I moved here traffic wise. Still not as layed back as the tri cities. Another of my uncles was the director of Holston defense for about 20 years before BAE leased it. Did you see where dupont bought Dow? I definitely miss the tri cities, but knoxville isn't to bad.
Are there any decent bars/clubs in bristol to get out for the night?
The one year I did not donate to Tennessee Fund they had tickets to Battle at Bristol. I had to wait till 1am-11am to get 4 tickets. We all had fun though... drinking beer, talking and playing cornhole. I could only imagine what a massive tailgate party it will be... it will make The Worlds Largest Cocktail Party look like The Worlds Largest Slumber Party. Both schools sold their 44,000 they were each allotted, I believe 44,000 was the number. And the rest were all sold almost entirely to Bristol Motor Speedway season ticket holders. The remainder of tickets that were left were all sold Friday Oct 2 to people who went to stand in line all morning to purchase them.
Johnson City has a solid DT bar scene and it's about 15 min from Bristol.
Both Bristol and Kingsport have a very spare nightlife.

I didn't read all 12 pages of replys but if you're still looking try a cabin or houseboat rental at Lakeshore marina on Watauga Lake. It's located just south of Elizabethton.
