Basilio's Blog is done

Come on. This is the off season coupled with Christmas break. NCAA rules won't allow work during this time since our season is over. TB has issues but this comment is far from the issue.

When a freshman safety is spoken to right before Bray and his comments are "time to hit the weights, study and improve myself and looking foward to next season" it didn't help Bray's cause.

That's the point. He does have issues-and that much is evident now. All the more reason not to make that comment. He wants to take time off, fine, that is understandable. But as your team's QB he should not have said that publicly.

All that comment does is put his other issues in a wrapper and present his team and fans with the perception that he truly might not care. My overall point here was that the comment itself does not help anything. There was never anything to gain from it, other than self-pity.
well put

I have no idea if what I read is true or not but 1) If it is true, Dooley needs to bench the two players named by Basilio and take his chances with what he has and/or 2) If it is NOT true Basilio needs to be run out of town

Exactly. No good comes from that comment.

If Bray and Rogers need a forum to express themselves, just to get stuff off their chests, well maybe they should just hang around VN more. Just sayin.

The two statements dont contradict each other. Weights and studying are getting away from football. You guys are nit picking a comment a kid made that all of us have made so many times. Yes even after failed endeavers.

Dang, I wish I knew the truth...

Jack Nicklaus told me though, the truth might not be something I can handle

I think its a little ironic that these supposed problem players aren't the ones that have made public comments.

Oh nos, a gun slinger/tattle-tale rift on the team. I think I might have shrugged too.

Pretty sure that when he said "study" in answering a question about football he is talking about "studying" football. How is that getting away from football if one is studying football, and lifting weights in order to prepare for....wait for it...football?

yeah, I have to agree with you on this one when kept in context.

save your breath

Yeah i read Tonys Blog all the time. I dont put any more faith in it than any thing i read on Volnation. Except maybe the guy from Bucksnort.

Like I said we are nit picking a quote from a kid after the biggest failure of their athletic lives. It is exam time on campus so I wouldnt be so sure, but that's way to much emphasis on a darn comment!

The point is that to say the comment isn't Manning like is just plain unfair. Athletics at this level are a mental grind and when seasons are over, successful or not, everyone involved needs a break. Saying so doesn't infer weakness or lack of commitment.

I for one just wish he hadn't started packing after the Vandy game.

If I'm nitpciking then you are taking some big leaps.

But, to each is own.

Everything on Da'Rick is absolutely true. He WILL be the next Terrel Owens.

Everything on Tyler is absolutely exaggerated. He participates without question but gives a half-assed effort.

Tyler was also bold-faced lying after the Kentucky game when he said he didn't care about his stats. Have you noticed how he's always doing that little "what are you talking about?" hand gesture when he's on the field? It's all about how they run the ball the play after he does it. I like Bray and is potential is infathomable. Problem is, I don't know how much he cares anymore.

I watched Bray on the side-lines when he was injured and he looked like a player that cares a lot. He seemed to me much more involved and animated than prior QBs like Ainge. He and Rogers need to mature.

If the comment had said, "I am glad I get a month away from football." I would agree with you but that wasnt it. If he comes out with that statement you will be right and that will be very un-Manning like.

I agree with this...

but, regardless of the truth of this claims, the one thing that I know bothered me is his post-game interview with the media. I know he's still young, but I don't think he realizes his position as quarterback of Tennessee yet. He seemed so nonchalant and ostensibly apathetic. I know some chalk it up as a "west coast" persona, but I'm not so sure

Bray wants to play football. It does not bother me at all if he wants to pass every play he's on the field as long as he's being controlled by someone who understands why he needs to hand the ball off.
