The rumors have been further given a life of their own after it was reported that coach Lovie Smith was approached by the University of Tennessee officials. For the record, no representatives from either side have made an official comment on this episode. But if indeed this thing falls according to the plan, don’t forget where you heard it first.

According to my resources on the college campuses and recruiters, Chicago Bears coach name is being peddled around as the man most likely to take the baton from Lane Kiffin.

I would say that is for Lovie only. The guy at Uconn not deserving of that kind of money yet.I still can't believe guy at Air Force turned us down if it was hurt feelings from last year then stay in Colorado Springs forever

Chris Lowe said on Nashville radio yesterday evening that he wasn't sure that the Air Force coach was ever offered. He thought Hamilton was definately feeling him out for interest but may have never offered him the position.

I dont think Lovie will happen; just give it to Kippy.

Maybe it is Kippy and has been all along, amid all the misinformation and disinformation that has been circulated. KB stated that the recruits visiting this weekend will meet their coach. So maybe he is knows he is the one and is just playing along with the search drama.

Dave Wannstedt is another coach that has came back to the college game and has turned Pitt into a solid program.

by Pitt early on. His first five or so Pitt teams, as I recall, were Horrible. I'm not sure how he escaped the ax, but he did and he's done a little better in recent years. He's not been great by any stretch, however--Pitt is OK, respectable, but not much more than that.

Tony Dungy will not coach college football. He said so himself a week or two ago on ESPN. He has never coached at the college level. He was brought up in the NFL and if he ever came back it would be in the Pro's.

** My Dad, who is a project manager for the University of Illinois, just told me his friend working for the university has spoken to Ron Turner, former Illinois head coach and former Bears Offensive coordinator. He said he is "pretty sure" Lovie won't be coaching the Bears next year... This was sometime yesterday. So it could be that he is taking Tennessee offers into play, or he might be let go by the Bears. Take it however you want to though.
