Basilio reporting now 6:15

I tell ya, reading these boards over the last couple of days has reminded me why I created an account years ago but come here so rarely that I never can remember my password...

It's adorable that you all think the "fan revolt" of Sunday was what resulted in the non-hire of Schiano. Clearly top boosters and others with power within the state and the university weren't on board with the hire, and that's why it didn't happen.

But sure, go ahead and throw another highly-reported temper tantrum. I'm sure it'll be super-effective, and I'm definitely looking forward to having more of my Georgia friends laugh in my face.

Protests kept Currie in his office to field the calls from powerful state officials.

More likely what will happen:

4. National media laughs at UT again.
5. Coaches approached are filmed dying of laughter when approached. There is no coach going to touch this program if the AD department lets the fan base stop dictate when some one is hired and fired TWICE.
6. UT hires Hoke as interim or re-contracts with Jones, assuming they don't laugh as well.
7. Search for AD fails as all AD candidates says no.
8. UT enlists the help of an independent firm to determine the steps and given input on how to gain control over the out of control fans so that it can hire both an AD and a HC.

This whole "fire" thing has become a joke.

This is what opening pandora's box does. I agree GS was not a good hire and folks needed to reasonably make their concerns known - but some are too caught up on the power they think they have.

I feel I am watching a storied football program being KILLED by it s fans.

What you are watching is a storied football program being destroyed by its own administration and one booster.

Are you sure it's the drama in Knoxville that your friends are laughing in your face over?

She’s right on that count. The boosters other than Little Jimmy threatened to pull funding if the Schiano hire went through.

Yep. Big mouth Currie promised an explosive, expensive and big hire. Well, I expect delivery. If not, I'm with you. Not a damned dime. I'll pad my retirement fund with the UT donations and ticket/travel money will go for golf trips.

It has blown up in his face and it's going to cost a lot more than it should. If he hires a 400 pound guy his promise is spot-on.

Then why cant those same boosters do the same to get Jimmy and Currie out?

A lot easier said than done. The big boosters never liked each other, but the Haslam family put the most money into the program. I don’t know why Peyton has been so willing to go along. Actually I take that back.

How about we don't and we keep our mouths shut.

They have ignored candidates who want to be here, haven’t even returned Tee Martin’s contact, which is disrespectful to a coach with a sqeaky clean rep that gave his all for this university. If you think he’s not ready, you call and explain it to him. Peyton, Haslam, and company haven’t given him that courtesy. That comes directly from the man himself, who Patrick Brown talked to this morning.

Desperate for another job and will work cheap and isn't from UT or the SEC.
A question to Landry of Landry Sports on Sport Talk tonight was, what is the strongest qualification of Doeren for HC of TN? The answer was, he'd take the job. :thud:
... NC State would love for us to hire him. What a joke this AD is.
I live in Raleigh, all my in laws are NC State grads, and we would absolutely be laughed at. Family has already started laughing at me for just talking to him.
On the same show on Sport talk, Landry mentioned that some folks he knows in NC, want to start a fund to donate to TN to help hire Doeren. That should explain just how absurd this hire would be.
