Basilio reporting now 6:15

lol there is no one left to tell us "no". Give it up. Kiffin is not coming here. Tee is to raw and we would be setting him up to fail before his career even begins. Petersen is not leaving the Great North West. Brohm is evidently not the guy. Cutcliff has already said "not no" but "hell no" the same with Gundy. Morris is out (nobody wanted him either). Charlie Strong is a nonstarter. If Scaino's baggage was to much Petrino's is, well, just as bad. Campbell is a non-starter. Running out of candidates rapidly. The only big name out there crazy enough to take it is Leeach and unfortunately, he sued his previous employer sooooo. This guy may be our only choice. It is what it is.

Oh, and Miles is Fulmer 2.0. Sumlin would probably give it a look, but he's a West of the Mississippi man and just got fired.

Fulmer 2.0 sounds pretty goog right now. Hell, I'd settle for a Fulmer rerun at this point.

Everyone might want to consider bringing it down a notch or two and think this through. We do not want to force a rushed hire through which is what a lot of us are suggesting we do. I know the early signing looms over the current process, but we might want to consider sacrificing a recruiting class to get a better coach. If we do not get the right coach, we could find ourselves with multiple bad recruiting classes. Also, there are likely to be some additional coaches available after bowl season, or as the NFL season winds down. It could turn out we get a much better hire then. Or, I could be delusional from all the anxiety I have recently experienced. Enough for now, I need to go treat my newly acquired ulcer.

Currie is in panic mode. Needs to confess his wrongs, communicate the truth about haslam's influence, apologize to Volnation, and say we are starting over with what Volnation wants and needs. That would go a million miles right now for many. then, if he feels so inclined, resign...but if you go out, do it like a champ.

We all have a front row seat to the demise of a once proud program. I wish it wasn’t the case but here we are. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it doesn’t matter who you hire as coach if you have a disfunctional AD like we do. There is not a coach in the country that could come in here and fix our program while these same incompitent people are running the AD and especially while they are taking orders from Haslam.

This recruiting class is shot. Next year is shot. Keep the interim coaching staff in place (minus Scott), get real about fixing the AD, take our lumps next year again and then focus on finding a quality coach that can turn this thing around.

Or don’t make any changes to the AD, hire literally anyone at this point and we’ll find ourselves here again in 3 years.

As much as I take what Basilio says with multiple grains of salt, IF this is true then let's hope nobody gets hired tonight!

"power struggle right now within two factions of boosters, and Peyton is on the wrong side, doeren is about to be hired" He just said his source told him if Currie doesn't have a coach tonight he's fired and he's about to sign doeren.

Doeren will fail miserably here. I won't be renewing my season tix if Doeren is hired. I hate to do it, but it is time to hit em where it hurts.

HOW do you people know who's acceptable and who's not? You whined for Gruden for weeks when it's obvious he doesn't want to put in the work required to be successful. You used a manufactured scandal to blackball Schiano. What makes any of you experts on who can and who can't coach? There are a lot of good coaches who are bad fits in a given situation. If Doeren is the hire, get your collective panties out of a wad and support him. Ultimately it's about the players, not YOU, not the ADMIN, and not the fat cat BOOSTERS. I'm a 33 year veteran successful coach at the High School level who understands what a pain in the butt outside interference can be.

33 years huh? Successful you say? Could I interest you in a job at the University of Tennessee??!!

Just bring Flumer back and start a process to train a new coach. Provide a great staff of coaches that can recruit around him.Coaches that bleed orange/VFL we need to get back to Tennessee football the Tennessee way. This happens with Tennessee people. We have a source in Flumer he has done it. We can put this baby to bed with Flumer starting the process of getting Tennessee football back on the map.I for one would be excited because I know it would work.I'm not saying Flumer long term I'm saying let him start the process for recovery if we can't find a winning coach.

I don't understand why Fulmer isn't AD -- unless he's got a beef with Jimmy, but even Jimmy should understand what is best for the university. Then again, he is the Brown's owner, and we see how much he cares about that program.

Also, I heard Currie has a $ 5 mil buyout. They literally can't fire him, keep a war chest for new coach and staff, and keep some in reserve in case they have to pay Schiano something for Currie's f___ up! Jimmy Haslam needs to be ripped a new one over his meddling. Currie is his guy, and there is NO Big 5 sitting coach that is going to come to UT with Currie at the helm.

I never thought I would say this, but I am beginning to think Peyton Manning is part of the problem here.

Agreed. Manning isn't getting paid anything for his services, and his only interest is the good of the program, so why the f___ would he back Doreen? Fulmer or Blackburn are the obvious top contenders to every Vol fan. There is some political angle here that we are not aware of.
