IT IS NOT AN $11 MILLION BUYOUT. His contract for the Bears is $5.5 million for the next two years, so if they fired him they would owe him that amount. That is NOT his buyout.

I know there have been numerous threads running the gamut of football coach names of all levels. The report of Lovie Smith has to be the most ludicrous.

He has underachieved with the Bears. They have failed to reach the playoffs every year since they went to the Super Bowl. The Bears still owe him $11 million. That's the only reason he hasn't been fired already. I put this ridiculousness up there with Bill Cowher, but apparently it is getting air play here in Chicago.

I'm not saying he'd be the worst hire, but he definitely wouldn't be the best.
