Bash Dooley here....

Going 17-20 in a garbage conference suggests that he is in WAY over his head.

No it doesn't... and Lofton ought to sue you for stealing his schtick.

What it proves is that he went 17-20 in a top heavy conference and at a school with a history of being nothing more than homecoming fodder.

There are ALOT of people including every LSU or LT fan I've seen post that say the guy elevated LT's program significantly.

If he stays at UT for 3 years, goes 17-20, but leaves a roster full of talent that someone you think is deserving can do something with... then UT will not be much worse off than if they'd hired your guy (whoever that is) to start with. No one would have been expected to win the SEC within the next 2 years.

Yep, taking a team to a bowl game for the first in 30 years and scaring the crap out of LSU at their homecoming, playing Boise State close. All the while doubling as the AD. The man is in way over his head. Come on dude, just admit that you dont know whats gonna happen. It wont hurt you. Do you think those nutbag Auburn fans that showed up cussing at Chiziks press conference wouldnt like to take it back now that he proved them wrong? Its not a science, and once again, NOBODY can predict the future.

I don't recall much animosity about Dungy's hiring locally. Nice try.

I dont know what was printed locally. I live in Atl. I do rememeber being on the message boards and noticing that about 3 out of ten posters thought that he would never be able to win the big game and that he would make the offense pedestrian like Tampas. 70 percent in favor is about what I see on this board. The 30 percent is quite vocal and certainly entitled to their opinion. I dont understand for the life of me though why so many of yall wont just give him a CHANCE.

And how the hell do either one of you know this. Even the most ardent Dooley defenders, (like myself) arent coming on here to say that hes going to win a NC anytime soon. Or an SEC title in the next 2-3 years. Would ANYONE have predicted that Bama would not only beat Fla, but dominate them like they did. You play the game for a reason, to see whats what, and who is best. How can you say that its a FACT that hes in over his head. None of us has any idea either way. One more example, the 05 Vols who were preseason #2 and then didnt go bowling. Outside of the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ, there is NO such thing as a sure thing.

And truth was spoken.

Chizik proved NOBODY wrong last year. 7-5 is about what he'll be at Auburn as long as Saban, Miles, and Petrino are in that same division.

Secondly, it's pretty obvious that a poor record in the WAC does NOT qualify you to be the head coach at the second winningest school in the SEC behind Bama.

Thanks for proving that you are only here to talk down to people. It would have taken 30 seconds to answer the questions, but you would rather dump on the football program and correct people's grammar, and I will leave you to it.

And I can read just fine. Maybe you stay solely in this thread from now on?

Talk down to people? So now I'm an E-bully. Nice.

I will stay in this thread solely if you will go play in traffic. Deal?

does the fact that Dooley was hired make your second point inaccurate?

Chizik and his OC Mahlzahn took Montes Defense behind the woodshed. Im pretty sure that Auburn beat us by more than Bama beat them.

Petrino? What has Petrino won? Chizik will probably be at AU longer than Petrino is at Arky. I say probably, because Im not a fearless predicter of future events like you are.

Miles may very well be gone after this year. Guess who the LSU fans in the know hoped would stay at La Tech for one more year in case Miles screwed up even worse this year? Why is it that DD is good enough for a team that won 2 Nattys in 5 years, but isnt good enough for us.

Bottom line is this....LSu fans want Miles gone, AU fans are ecstatic about Chizik. The La tech administration and fanbase wanted DD to stay. Can we at least give DD the year that Chizik got at Auburn before we pass judgement. Might make it a lot easier for him to recruit with the actual appearance of a fanbase behind him.

It doesn't take much to be a more knowledgeable poster than you. And, I really haven't bashed Dooley. I wish we had hired a more seasoned coach with a winning background. But, please show me where I've said that I think it's a 100% done deal that he'll fail.

You are much smarter than I even gave you credit for if you know you are a more knowledgeable poster than I am. I haven't even started to post ANY of my knowledge, but if all it takes to be "more knowledgeable" is to make fun of and thumb your nose at others, I will remain beneath you, sir.

On the topic, I never said you thought it was a 100% done deal. But, as little as I post, I read most everything on the board, and it doesn't take long to know that you believe and (somewhat) hope that Dooley fails, and that you are one of the most negative and standoffish posters on the board. And you are living up to that now. But you don't want to use any 'knowledge' here, so I will save it for my fellow "less knowledgeable" posters and friends.

Chizik sucks. Just watch him crash and burn when Malzahn leaves.

On to Dooley. I don't know if Dooley can win here or not, but what I do know is that he took over a hell of a tough situation at La. Tech and was poised to have a really good year this year. However, his overall record leaves a lot to be desired. One thing that I think that is vastly different here than at La. Tech is his level of assistants. So, I will give him a chance to be successful while not being just ecstatic that he's who we ended up with.

You have me confused with someone else. I've never HOPED for Dooley to fail. Why don't you use some of that imaginary "knowledge" that you have to figure that out before posting absolute garbage on here?

And, yes, I do "believe" that Dooley will fail. I think it's greater than 50% chance of that happening. I believe there's a 70-75% chance of that happening. But, I certainly think it's possible that he does well here... potentially really well. I HOPE he wins multiple national championships here. Kudos again on a stellar argument with completely inaccurate "facts."

Chizik will only be at AU for 1 year longer than Malzahn

Soooo he was capable enough to go out and get Mahlzahn, but not capable enough to go out and replace him with someone just as good if Mahlzahn leaves? Its unheard of for the chief administrator of a multi million dollar college football program to replace one employee with another?I hope that Meyer and Saban dont find out that Mullen and Applewhite left for other jobs. They'll fold their tents up and go home.

I love the way Chizik has managed to convince people he's any good. The job he did at Iowa State was simply horrific. There's a difference between him and Dooley as a head coach. Dooley was unproven. Chizik was embarrassingly awful. Unless he learned a whole lot in 2 years, he'll be gone soon enough, because any thoughts of him competing with Saban for SEC titles is laughable, at best.

If you think Chizik is the reason for AU's success, that tells me all I need to know about your knowledge of football.

Malzahn is overrated. He's a high school coach that preferred to throw the ball 50 times a game with some crap quarterback than give the ball to McFadden and Jones. He's interesting and has put out an amusing offense, to say the least, but he's going to get hired by a smaller school after a couple years, where he'll be a putrid head coach.

I agree. Funny how it only took half a season for people to catch on to the gimmick offense. They won a couple more games than they did the year before simply because of that offense doing well early in the year. I see it going downhill in a hurry as that kind of garbage isn't going to consistently work in the SEC.

If you think Chizik is the reason for AU's success, that tells me all I need to know about your knowledge of football.

And if you claim to know for a fact that he isnt the reason then that tells me all I need to know about your knowledge. Im relatively new to this board and generally attempt to make my points without belittling someone elses character/ intellect. I certainly dont mind being disagreed with

Good thing you don't hold yourself to your own self-imposed belittling people rule.

Chizik's career head coaching record before Auburn and without the gimmick offense: 5-19. What else do you need to know?

I know I'm going to get bashed by the objectivity police but I'll say this anyway.

Why would someone want to view their "favorite team" objectively? What is the point in calling them your favorite team then when all you do is try and look at them from a passerby's standpoint? Cheer for your team, damned be the outcome. We will be back on top, it will just take time and hard work put in by non other than Dooley. And if he can't get it done, we will just hire another coach. We will eventually find the top. And there is no amount of pissing and moaning that will speed up the process. But at the end of the day, we will still be Tennessee and us subjective fans will still cheer for them no matter what.

That point of view kept PF around longer than he should have been allowed.
