Bash Dooley here....

"You guys?" How about this. "You guys" that have no ability to say anything but negative comments about all things orange take a vacation for a while. Maybe find something that makes you happy besides running down the Vols and looking down your noses at anyone who doesn't agree. That would let us all know you would be gone for a LONG time.

I'm in a wait and see approach with Dooley, but thanks. I just love the "well then you cann git outta heer and go ruut for anoder taem" comments. Kudos.

Let's see Dooley couldn't recruit in a recruiting hot bed. Hmmm... LA Tech or LSU, Ole Miss, Texas, Auburn, Alabama, Miss State, TCU. Geezzz, if I'm a prized recruit where would I go?

Next...Dooley couldn't win against easy teams....Like LSU last year? LSU barely beat Dooley's Bulldogs 24-16 @ their homecoming game. Maybe your referring to Boise State. Who didn't exactly blow Dooley's Bulldogs out of the water. 45-35.

I think he did a remarkable job salvaging the recruits we got earlier this year. He didn't have time to assemble a full staff and he still brought in a great class! He also has some top talent looking at us next year.

The man hasn't coached a game yet and some are ready to throw him under the bus. This is ridiculous. We have a brutal schedule coming up. If we can navigate 6 wins I would be happy. (Yes I'm a true Vol fan) I'm just not naive to the mess that we are in. Three coaching staff changes in consecutive years...Fulmer (and I'm not bashing here) left the cupboard low in the talent pool. Give this man a chance! 3 season's and then judge. He brought in top notch coaches. I think this man is smart enough, and capable enough of bringing out the most in each player and position. He will play up our strengths and try to minimize our weaknesses. If you bashers are right and in three years we aren't competitive in the SEC East then I'll want change too. If you are living in a fantasy world and believe UT is going to reach a status of domination in the next 4-6 years...you need help. This league is elite! Alabama won't dominate forever. There is too many high caliber teams and the best coaches in college football. When 7-8 teams consistantly recruit in the top 20 and this year alone 5 out of the top 10...the conference will continue to beat each other up. Rise up guys! Support the Big Orange!!

Go Vols!! Win or loose...I'll be hoarse cheering them on.

This!

Dodgers seem to be regular visitors to the playoffs. And how much talent was there on the 96 team? Other than Jeter. Mo was the setup man. Knoblauch, Tino Martinzez, Brosius, Jim(manslaughter) Leyritz. Daryl Strawberry on his 8th chance. 35 year old Wade Boggs. Torre did a masterful job bringing them back from a 2-0 hole against my beloved Braves. The dude is a Hall of Fame manager because someone looked past his numbers in Atlanta.

He's a hall of fame manager because they Yankees have the resources to pull the most talent. In case you missed the subtle logic in my original post it was less about Joe Torre and more of a question about Dooley's ability to draw top talent to Knoxville.

Please. You came in here trying to use the quote function like your buddy Zig Zigler does and act as if you are any different than the rest of the hicks climbing to the top of the water tower to defend Dooley's honor.

Thank you for continuing to prove my point with each and every post you make.

Just for you:

:salute:

So your saying a UT fan shouldn't have lofty expectations?

Just because you accept mediocrity, don't ask me or others to do the same.

You saw that I accept mediocrity in my post? That is fine if it helps with your argument, but I want us to win every game we play. But you and your miserable buddies talk about how awful a coach he is and how bad he did at his previous job. It is like you are praying for him to fail. Why not give him a chance? Not a sliver of a chance. Because you wouldn't have anything to piss and moan about? Honestly, why? The man has the pedigree, the staff, and backing to be as successful as he wants to be. But he didn't win enough games at a small school (not even known for football) for you? He couldn't get 5 star recruits from the hot bed he was in. Wonder why?

Also, what did you honestly think about the Kiffin hire last year? And who were you wanting us to hire to replace Kiffin?

You can flap your gums with your cute "misspell to make fun of the hillbilly" routine over and over though? Wasn't funny the first 50 times you used it, why not try one more time , right? That makes you the bigger, better, more knowledgeable poster, eh? What sense does it make to put down the very people in the region of the school you pretend to like? Please, you are as far from a wait and see as your buddy Lofton4Three.

Im good on picking up the logic. In case you missed my point, it was about how Torre won 2 WS BEFORE Steinbrenner opened up the checkbook. And my original point to the other guy was that since he is a Yankees fan, he ought to appreciate the possibility that Torre was a better manager than what his numbers in Atlanta indicated. Much like DD at La tech.

Comparing Torre to DD is asinine.

I don't care nearly enough to do that. Just thought you might answer questions about your staunch stance on the topic instead of slinging your negative comments and insults the whole thread.

It's been discussed before. You're not worth repeating on what I would have done rather than hire DD.

Also, look at the damn thread title.

Thank God for somebody who gets this fact.

And how the hell do either one of you know this. Even the most ardent Dooley defenders, (like myself) arent coming on here to say that hes going to win a NC anytime soon. Or an SEC title in the next 2-3 years. Would ANYONE have predicted that Bama would not only beat Fla, but dominate them like they did. You play the game for a reason, to see whats what, and who is best. How can you say that its a FACT that hes in over his head. None of us has any idea either way. One more example, the 05 Vols who were preseason #2 and then didnt go bowling. Outside of the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ, there is NO such thing as a sure thing.

Going 17-20 in a garbage conference suggests that he is in WAY over his head.

Thanks for proving that you are only here to talk down to people. It would have taken 30 seconds to answer the questions, but you would rather dump on the football program and correct people's grammar, and I will leave you to it.

And I can read just fine. Maybe you stay solely in this thread from now on?

What a horrid comparison.
How do you know? Torre was terrible in Atlanta, I rememeber Yankees fans being furious when he was hired. Youre a Colts fan, why dont you go back and see what the fan reaction was when they hired a coach who had been fired by Tampa. Despite the ignorance of the fan base it worked out pretty well dude.

I don't recall much animosity about Dungy's hiring locally. Nice try.

Most of us do have lofty expectations. We just don't write a guy off before he coaches his first game.

Would it be nice to have a boatload of talent and a big name coach? Absolutely. But between Fulmer and your hero... the UT job wasn't that in January 2010. It was a re-building job in CFB's toughest conference with an impatient fanbase... and a better chance of setting up the next guy than actually being a successful, long term coach... or a coach that moves on to bigger and brighter things afterward.

Like you mentioned, DD will get a nice payday but he has put a career that many considered promising at risk also.

It doesn't take much to be a more knowledgeable poster than you. And, I really haven't bashed Dooley. I wish we had hired a more seasoned coach with a winning background. But, please show me where I've said that I think it's a 100% done deal that he'll fail.

Wait until CDD starts winning youre gonna be making threads about why he is the best coach in UT history.

We should have went after a big name coach, everyone knows that a big name coach is the way to go. It would have made us better immediately. If you dont believe me, ask a Michigan Woulverine fan!!

Very good. Also just ask a Notre Dame fan. Why is everyone ragging on Dooley? At least he isn't running his mouth off and pissing off coaches. Give him a chance. If it doesn't work out, he'll be gone.
