Bash Dooley here....

yea...look at his 09 season at LaTech...losing to #5 Boise State 45-35 and #11 LSU 24-16...what a disgrace given all the multi-star talent he had at his fingertips (rolling eyes)....

jeez...where do you naysayers come from???

Boise wins against big time competition with lesser talent all the time. Losing by 10 or even 8 to "the big dogs" isn't something to put on your resume.

He had to deal with a ton of injuries last year to his starters as well.

But sadly, there are Vol fans that have ditched the Orange Nation in favor of the Crimson and Gold,as shown on the Around the NCAA forum.

What are you guys going to do if he wins 8 games this year? and lands a top 5 recruiting class? i realize the chances on this are small but will you delete your accounts on here? Because you already look like tools burning this guy at the stake before he has coached one game with his staff. Its ridiculous

I'm not saying you can't win, I'm saying I have no reason to believe he can attain the level of success we want, making my outlook negative. There's a difference.

wishful thinking...many on this board wanted CBP fired after losing to USC last year and started a thread called the end of the Bruce Pearl era. Now they take credit for the hire.

That's like judging a teen coming out of Compton without ever seeing their actions in the new environment, "judging a book by it's cover" if you will. La Tech is not a football school and the city sucks, to be polite. He did an ok job there, but I don't think it's a great judge of how good of a coach he is.

I agree, but that doesn't make me any more optimistic. I'd say a large majority of coaches would fail in UT's current situation. I can't say I know exactly how good of a coach Dooley is, but I have no reason to see why he's not in that large majority.

To the OP's question:

Are we overlooking that the guy hasn't won anywhere else? We are?... Oh, ok. Well then, this is a solid hire and I really don't think that MH could have done a better job... well, if he had actually spent more than 48 hours looking for a coach.

If I am wrong, fine, but MH needs to go.

I'm sure if we win 20 games in 4 seasons, you'll still here someone saying people saying he just needs more time. There will always be a minority.

I won't be one of those if he can't produce, i can promise you that. I just refuse to bash the guy right now. He's here, we have no choice but to accept it right now.
