Bash Dooley here....

The switch is not going to just flip the other direction.

He was in a hotbed for talent in a sorry excuse for a conference and couldn't win.

Excuse me for not being giddy like you all who bury your heads in the sand.

It is a hot bed for talent, but no one is going to Tech that is any good. UT sells itself, and with his selected supporting cast things can only go up. All im saying is give the man a chance don't write him off as a failure just yet.

Why the Hell do you all care so much of why some see this as a terrible hire?

So many damn sheep it's scary.

dooley sucks. he highest education of any coach we have had, his daddy is a coaching legend (but didnt create his own version of the prevent defense), has a losing record as a HC, and hired non-mercenary coaches. Yeah - i see no reason to give him a shot, clearly a weak hire. lets pay the buyout and move on.

Because may be just maybe most of us support UT football no matter who is roaming the sidelines. We dont jump to conclusions at the drop of hat.

To answer the question:

- Unless there are issues we don't know about, torching the bridge with Douglas seems like bad strategy in a state with so little homegrown talent and so little loyalty among the talent there is.

- There have been some fumbles. While they might be understandable, they can't happen. There is no room for error with Vol recruiting right now. It looks bad on you to have kids out there saying "No one knew I was there" or "I don't remember my recruiters name".

- The O&W game seemed like a waste to me. It seems to make more sense to have the 1's vs 1's and 2's vs 2's with a team that has as far to go as this one does.

- The Stephens situation wasn't good. He was needed on the roster. Maybe DD gets credit for being candid and upfront... CLK would have pretended until it was too late.

Maybe all will be well, maybe not. You don't know anymore than anyone else as to how he's gonna do. To say you do is just ignorant on your part.

Then why does it bother you so bad if I think he sucks and doesn't deserve to be the coach here?

That attitude isn't at all better for UT.

By supporting i mean wait til he has coached a game, and after the season make all the negative comments you want. After all I didnt see all this crap when Kiffin whos only relevant coaching stop is OC at USC was hired.
