Said hes sick and wont perform in Indy. He'll wait till Pro Day to show what hes got. Unfortunate.

This will hurt his draft stock.

Sick, OK. But maybe his pro day will be like flying under the radar. Maybe the teams or team that have real interest in him are hoping this will allow them to be better informed than the league as a whole. Sorta like saying I'am gonna be sick next Wednesday.
Far fetched? Maybe. I don't know if things like this happen, but I wouldn't put it passed any team in the "league" as they seem to be willing to try to do anything.

This is a two sided coin with benefits on both sides. If he goes through the Combine he has every GM, coach and scout there to see what he can do.

If he waits to Pro Day, he will be healthy, on familiar territory at the complex, and will know the results of others and what he needs to do.

Flu bug is running rampant in NC. Who could perform if that is the case with him?

Being sick is not that detrimental at the combine. You can't help it if you are sick. Happens quite often. Being sent home from the combine (Foster) will cost you more money.

If you're sick, you will not perform as well. Everyone knows it, so why do it? He has Pro Day still.

Story I read said he is missing today's workout, which for DEs is the bench press. Says he hopes to be better by tomorrow to go through the main drills.

Wouldn't surprise me if this is BS to buy more time to work on some key measurables.

From NFL.COM
"Under doctor orders, he won't participate in Saturday drills but is hopeful to do so on Sunday, a source informed of his situation told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. The good news for Barnett is that defensive linemen are scheduled for the bench press only on Saturday in terms of physical testing, with the majority of drills at that position set for Sunday. Other appointments on the Saturday itinerary for defensive linemen include psychological testing, a meeting with the NFLPA, and media interviews.

A weakened Barnett was up at 5 a.m. Saturday and trying to hold fluids down, per Rapoport.

ESPN first reported news."
