Barnett Sick...Skipping Combine

Yea, god forbid him to care about his health. Name one time that Barnett has been selfish during his time at Tennessee?

In all fairness he never had an agent advising him on what to do at Tennessee. It sounds like he is sick, but leading up to the combine there were reports that his numbers would not be very good. This may just be a coincidence, but it still looks bad.

I know they all run it but is a 40 time really useful for a DE? They explode for 5 to 7 yards each play.

I remember when they raved about Javon Kearse 40 time. However if your DE is running 40 yards, something went wrong.

From NFL.COM
"Under doctor orders, he won't participate in Saturday drills but is hopeful to do so on Sunday, a source informed of his situation told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. The good news for Barnett is that defensive linemen are scheduled for the bench press only on Saturday in terms of physical testing, with the majority of drills at that position set for Sunday. Other appointments on the Saturday itinerary for defensive linemen include psychological testing, a meeting with the NFLPA, and media interviews.

A weakened Barnett was up at 5 a.m. Saturday and trying to hold fluids down, per Rapoport.

ESPN first reported news."

Hopefully he gets healthy.

Contrary to popular opinion around here I love Derek Barnett the player and person. Hope he shows out tomorrow and proves why he should be a top 10 draft pick.

I'm still projecting him to the Saints at #11 overall.

He had nothing to gain and a lot to lose by going through the combine while sick. Putting up bad numbers and then saying he was sick looks worse than not participating at all.

Better to sit this out if he's really sick than to show up perform poorly and then claim you were sick.

Theoretically, if he believed he could, wouldn't he try everything to go at the combine so he could put up better numbers than expected and shut the "wont test well" crowd up?

Wouldn't surprise me if this is BS to buy more time to work on some key measurables.

yeah, there's no one sick this time of year...look at school closures & work place absences....naw... he's faking I reckon...:cray:

Exactly, but if he is indeed sick, why would he go out and have a sub par performance. Way more to lose by performing sick than not participating at all

Sure seems convenient

You and faderoute should hang out together. Maybe you can find a puppy to kick when you are out and about today...

It wasn't a negative conclusion, you're just too immature and childish to be able to read anything in a post without letting your "I hate fade route" mentality get in the way. Grow up.

"wouldn't surprise me if this is bs to buy more time to work on some key measurable"

Certainly nothing negative there...LOL What a joke you are..

Using D4H logic, Jonathan Allen should slip to the third round for running a 5.00 forty time

Where is this "won't test well" organization setup concerning Derek Barnett and where do they meet? Are the meetings, weekly, monthly, or annually? Dues are??

As I stated before, athletes do this all the time and in some cases it's a smart business decision. I didn't say it did happen, I said it wouldn't surprise me. Sorry you're struggling with reading comprehension.

When have you ever seen a DE run in a straight line for 40 yds. D4H never fails to deliver comedy

Never.

But the combine is still a good measure of overall athleticism.

Film always comes first but seeing how guys work out is also valuable.
