223rd meeting versus KY will be most RN meetings.

Which rivalry is 2nd?

Vol Trivia

I'd guess Candy. Answer is next week.

Yes, Candy.

New one is easy. TN is on pace to break the season assist record at 17.9 APG. Record is 17.7 in 2007-08. Who lead the team in assists that year (Pearl's 3rd)?

Edit: actually it wasn't that simple.

On the Vol Cawls right now.

Mentioned every sub except for Kent. Said Pons and Jalen Johnson are important parts of this team.

Said he learned away game shoot around routine from Bobby Knight... just 20 minutes or so instead of an hour an a half. Doesn't like getting on and off the bus and going back and forth.

Barnes was on Swain this morning. I only heard the last couple of minutes. I think it's saved as a podcast.

Heard him talk about the guys that aren't here anymore. Gone because they were satisfied or something similar... indicated that they weren't buying in and working hard enough.

Said he doesn't want the 13th player to be satisfied with where they are. Life is short. Wants everybody working hard to get better.

Said he had a long talk with Darrington yesterday. Had higher expectations for him... even as a possible starter. Sounded positive, not threatening.

Barnes knows in order to play as hard as he wants them to he needs everyone getting minutes. When you're not getting to play much most kids won't practice hard which then results in less minutes. CRB just trying to break that cycle.

I was thinking about possible attrition this year and Darrington was one that I was thinking about. I wonder if he'd be eligible for a grad transfer?

No, definitely not coming from a JUCO. And you can’t run off a JUCO guy either if you hope to ever recruit one again, I would be shocked if he’s not here next season.

Punter was much improved in his second year. However his coach in year 1 was ButterBean.

Historically JUCO’s take a year to develop, it’s why I wasn’t sold on Darrington being in impact player Year 1. It just takes them a season to get acclimated to the speed of the game and life at a P5 verse a small JUCO out in Kansas...very rarely do JUCO’s, especially ranked where Darrington was and joining a good team, come in and make an impact Year 1.

Punter definitely got better. BMaze was pretty steady from day 1 but I would say he improved.

Trying to think of our other jucos over the last 10-15 years.

Melvin? Anyone else? Dwight Miller?

Vol Calls:
took out guys that weren't playing like they wanted to with about 8 or 9 minutes left versus Alabama and appreciated the effort of the guys that finished out the game

Called out:
Taking 3 straight 3s when down 2
Desperation shots
Need big plays from key guys (Grant)
Settled
Defensively okay for 35 minutes
Last 5 minutes we weren't very good
