My stance has never changed. He needs to do better. Thats my take on his recruiting.
The year to year needs change at the start of a rebuilding process. It was so bad initially that Kasongo had to be included. And the distribution among the classes is still out of wack.
I think that the last class could have been better if the class before wasn't so large. Getting to 3 or 4 every year will help elevate the recruiting.
Trying to recall it all...
Year 1:
Turner, Schofield, Alexander, Kasongo, Phillips (2 transferred out, 1 ineligible and redshirted)
Year 2:
Williams, Fulkerson, Bone, Bowden, Parker, Johnson (1 transferred out, 3 had significant injuries, 2 reclassified/redshirted)
Year 3:
Walker, Pons, Kent, Daniel, Darrington
Did I do that right?
That looks like a good foundation of 4 year players. I can't say that I'm disappointed even with the lower ratings.
The next two cycles are pretty important. Missing out on Simmons won't be a disaster, but filling the spots that will be cleared after Schofield, Alexander, and Darrington leave with high quality will be critical. IMO making the NCAAT this year will have a big impact on how good that 2019 class turns out.
