I think Jordan Bone was underrated too. I think he's probably a top-125ish guy. On the flip side, Kwe Parker was a 4* ranked #110, and that looks a little generous based on what we saw last year, which admittedly was limited.

Top 30/50 after the fact rating or top 30/50 sophomores? I think that he might be a top 30 sophomore. He's around a top 15 player in the league and that includes all 4 classes.

Kwe ended up a 3* by Rivals. Not even a ranked 3*.

3* on the flawed composite as well.

Bone was 146 on rivals. Not really different than 125.

Not at all...this staff has targeted probably 10+ guys inside the top 125 and were unable to land all except Pons, however they had other guys they had evaluated and pursued.

Right. So we are whiffing on our more highly rated targets. Which is not good.

Trend continued this year with the fall signing period.

My stance has never changed. He needs to do better. That’s my take on his recruiting.

Nobody will argue that, based on stars/rankings, it's great. However, you make assinine statements like "he finally targeted a 4*", which is completely false. And the guys he's gotten, for the most part, have played above their ranking. Does it need to be stepped up, whether it be better stars, stronger mental toughness, whatever, yeah.

Nothing asinine about it. We finally targeted a 4* guy as our priority in the fall signing period. We whiffed on him but he was made a priority and we didn’t just move on to a 3* Target early on. We regrouped and now we are targeting a 5* for that spot.

If you guys would quit being so sensitive and defensive you will quickly realize how much truth there is in what I’m saying.

The year to year needs change at the start of a rebuilding process. It was so bad initially that Kasongo had to be included. And the distribution among the classes is still out of wack.

I think that the last class could have been better if the class before wasn't so large. Getting to 3 or 4 every year will help elevate the recruiting.

Trying to recall it all...

Year 1:
Turner, Schofield, Alexander, Kasongo, Phillips (2 transferred out, 1 ineligible and redshirted)

Year 2:
Williams, Fulkerson, Bone, Bowden, Parker, Johnson (1 transferred out, 3 had significant injuries, 2 reclassified/redshirted)

Year 3:
Walker, Pons, Kent, Daniel, Darrington

Did I do that right?

That looks like a good foundation of 4 year players. I can't say that I'm disappointed even with the lower ratings.

The next two cycles are pretty important. Missing out on Simmons won't be a disaster, but filling the spots that will be cleared after Schofield, Alexander, and Darrington leave with high quality will be critical. IMO making the NCAAT this year will have a big impact on how good that 2019 class turns out.

Grant Williams was underrated. Top 30? Uh, no.
Whatever number, that’s really a moot/subjective point anyway. I know that Freshmen don’t have as huge of an impact as people imagine “top recruits” to have (outside of the top 15). Grant’s impact as a freshmen was as impactful as getting one of the best recruits in the country, that can’t be argued.

Targeting and whiffing is different than not targeting, which is what you've said Barnes has done. Whether or not that's what you meant is a different situation, but I've been talking about what you said.

Funny how some of ya’ll were claiming Barnes to be an excellent coach two games ago.

Now he sucks and Pearl needs to be rehired after lying to the NCAA and his employer.

This place is so predictable.

Not me. I was here pointing out obvious issues while being insulted by the bball thread Nazis.
You're welcome.

He wasn't out coached so why would he bring it up? Second half we out scored them by 19 points. Seems like he did a good bit of coaching to me. I will take a 11 point win over UK anytime.

Hey bud. Check the time stamps on the post you quote.

But first, take a lap.
