Barbara Dooley Taking Shots At The UT Fans.

So, basically we have come to the point where quitting anything is acceptable, or at least that's what I get out of it.

I get where he's coming from. He doesn't want to sit in the rain watching them half-ass it out there. Perfectly understandable to me.

Not that I agree with everything Barbara Dooley has to say, she's free to say what she wants and I'm free to take it w/ a grain of salt, but frankly, I thought the same thing to myself as I was watching the game (not the UGA part, just the empty Neyland at the start of the fourth quarter part). If the fans could recover from their disappointment and continue to cheer loudly, couldn't that re-energize a young team and turn the momentum in our favor again? Maybe.... Who knows... :dunno:

I can't afford to go to too many games, but when I do, I want to get my money's worth, win or lose, so I'm there until it's over and the alma mater is sung and all of that.

Most of you all *****ing about the team quitting really can't talk because you didn't see it from your car leaving the stadium. People left after the punt return for a touchdown. The fans packed it up and called it a loss because we had a few tough sets after a pick-6. That has to be tough on a new team. You are getting hammered so you're tired by midnight, they are in the fourth quarter of a game. You don't think it made a difference one team was operating at 9 pm and one was operating at midnight? If you think being a fan and being loud can help your home team, you're an idiot if you don't think you can have a negative one also. I saw a direct relation to our players checking out with the fans. Our seniors even felt the crowd give up on them. You're not thinking about this team- you're thinking about two years from now. You don't leave in the 3rd quarter. Hate Dooley's mom all you want. That makes you a bad fan. I watched this game with some Oregon fans, when they got the special teams touchdown one of them said "You're still in it, we might still have a game" until we noticed the masses of people missing. The entire Vol culture threw in the towel. I was utterly embarrassed. In consolation my Oregon friends told me not to worry too much, their fans had been like that once. Oh how far our fandom has fallen.:realmad:

Why would Barbara Dooley feel the need to go on sports radio and talk about anything?

Why would sports radio want her?

I don't recall ever hearing about an interview with Nick Saban's mom.

It took a novel to say that everyone other than you are bad fans because some Oregon people were trying to convince you that the game wasn't over?

Yes, that was the point of my extended story. That Oregon fans had more faith in our football team than the majority of Tennessee fans. Perhaps you should graduate from the Twilight series so you can learn what a novel really is.

Some people had to work on Sunday.... leaving at the end of the 3rd was only logical. Especially with a 2 1/2 hour drive back home.

What were you doing at the game with Oregon fans? Did they stay from last week? That's pretty cool....guess they really did have a great time.

The Oregon fans didn't really believe that. They just wanted you to think they did.

It is one thing when the team is trying and losing by that much, but they QUIT.

I would have left too after seeing them just quit like that. I am as big supporter/fan as the next man, but what I witnessed last Saturday made me SICK.

so you weren't actually at the game but are calling out the fans that attended? Alrighty then

I can only fly out for one game a year, I prefer to go to the Alabama game. I'm sorry i'm not a good enough fan to buy spend close to 1000 dollars every weekend to fly out from LA and see my favorite sports team play on top of the donations i give to the university. There are bigger superfans, but I watched the game to the end and that's probably more then you can say.

I'm just letting ya'll in on how we are perceived out on the West coast. You think any top recruit would want to play for fans like that?

Oh, you weren't at the game.....well let this Southerner let you and your little West Coast friends know our thoughts on how you feel about us. I'm going to the kitchen........................................pulling out a glass from the cabinet......................................................sitting it on the table..........................................opening the fridge......................................and now, I am pouring you a big glass of STFU.

CDD DID warn us about his mother almost as soon as he was hired. Maybe this is what he was warning us about?

The way I saw it was that the team had a couple devastating plays go against them, the fans abandoned the team and then the team quit trying. Basically I agree with her. If you were lucky enough to be at that game (I live 2000 miles from Neyland) and you abandoned the team - Shame on you. Period. End of story.

I literally screamed and yelled at the TV when I saw how empty the stadium was. I couldn't believe it.

(I'm assuming I'm going to get crucified so fire away)

Some of us left in the end of the fourth quarter because we were soaked to the bone from the storm Some people never returned from the rain delay....DD should check out some of the students who were on the field during the delay. They were pretty fast when the Knoxville's finest pursued them....All I want for my birthday is a win against Florida.

So now only southerners can be fans? I'd like to make it to more games too pal. Even driving overnight would be doable for me. I've got to drive 35 hours! Somehow you're equating driving a couple hours with driving a day and half or spending 800 bucks on plane tickets?

All I want is for the fans who make it to the game to stay and cheer and let the team know you're behind them - for the whole game.

She's on Basilio's show whining about UT fans leaving in the third quarter last week. Said Georgia fans never do that. I guess she wasn't at the '94, '98, or '06 UT-UGA games.

She obviously was in a coma during the Ray Goff years.
