Picked up a S&W M&P Shield .380 EZ for the wife. Larger framed .380 but still just concealable on the beltline. Prob max size you will find a .380. I do not like those palm pistols. This one shoots fantastically, quite accurate and is a breeze to rack. Slightly larger than the Bersa Thunder. Ordered contoured replacement clip caps for the pinkie finger to rest and made it perfect for small to mid hands. It's still single stack so 7 in the clip.1st of 3 day celebration of our 43rd Wedding Anniversary found us at the shooting range in Oak Ridge where I bought HBPW a Sig Sauer P322 to replace her Ruger LCP .380. Man! That P322 is fun and she's in love with it.
Then we went to dinner (4pm) at Los Cabellaros where we dined on Texas Fajitas ftw!
I spent about as much on fixing the LCP Max as I did on the gun itself.Picked up a S&W M&P Shield .380 EZ for the wife. Larger framed .380 but still just concealable on the beltline. My step son has the LCP .380 as a pocket gun. He travels alot. Shot it once. One shell. Hated it and handed it back. You made a good call on the swap.
My all-time peronal favorite is the Beretta 92. Finest made IMO. Would love to pick up a 92C. Supposed to be compact, but is still larger than most 9mm CC.
THe Bodyguard is a good one, but the Shield .380 EZ is such a smooth and accurate shooter I'm very partial to it, even with the larger frame and longer barrel. Which is what makes it so shootable compared to hte smaller .380's and the even smaller pocket micros. I despise shooting those things. My experience with the .380 EZ would likely lead me to the larger 9mm version as the only consideration I'd give outside a Beretta 92 variant. Mostly cause I can't afford the newest and baddest $1600 92GTS.I spent about as much on fixing the LCP Max as I did on the gun itself.
The M*Carbo upgrades are 100% worth it.
S&W Bodyguard 2.0 for the win though
Love my LCP. Crimson Trace out of the box is dead on.Picked up a S&W M&P Shield .380 EZ for the wife. Larger framed .380 but still just concealable on the beltline. late reply as I haven't looked at thread in awhile. Thank you for your service......butLots of Lulz in here
My guy, I carried an MP5 in combat.
Kel-Tec?!?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. STFU and GTFO. That's LITERALLY the last gun I'd grab out of my safe (not that I don't like it)
I get it, you don't want to spend the coin. No big deal. Just admit it
late reply as I haven't looked at thread in awhile. Thank you for your service......but
I don't care if you were in seal team 6, Mp5 is not dependable without constant maintenance. That's not debatable and I doubt many Armorer would disagree. After 500 rounds pin is going to be time bomb waiting for failure. 500 is NOTHING on a PCC, and knowing that after that it might fly off and leave you going click is not a feature. That's on 100% H&K models. I dunno your story so dunno if you did maintenance or someone else..but that just IS the mp5.
For those that don't know our have your experience.
Anyone whod use the the mp5 for their life be ready to do this in the field at any moment. Or like professonals an armororer replaces it everytime they go out. Cause who cares when tax payers pay for it. This is every make of Mp5.
Kel-tec wins the KISS rule. Know personally of a case where a guy brought the kel-tec to a sub gun house comp, and won. They all made fun of course, but he was quicker cause it's lighter...and that's all that matters. Value for money was my point and not everyone has a huge gun budget. One downside it's dirty, upside it's easiest gun to clean.
I did admit I don't want to spend the coin that was my point from start, actual sp5/mp5 from H&K is an over priced museum piece. I am not an expert. PTR price is a fun range toy. I have not used it in combat, but I know what I know.
I'll stand by all of that. MPX is what I'd prefer to reach for. It's by far a better professional choice, it's twice as much as the mp5 knockoff though, and 4 times the cost of a kel-tec. if you do what it does best surpressed then you're doing much more then that.. but I wasn't speaking as to that. I have recommended a lot more kel-tec because of kiss rule, and simple upkeep. It's perfect for the non gun person, for a pcc. Perfect carbine for home defense or a truck gun, you won't cry when you have to surrender it after use. It's basically a 9mm m1 carbine for todays world. It just works. I have heard some of the later gens had issues, and some of the first out, but my 2nd and my dad's have both been sewing machines, my only big complaint is it's a beard eater, and you absolutely want to get the rubberized guard on the back to prevent beard issues. (20 bucks problem solved) No one will ever think she is sexy, but she puts out without dinner or a movie. All that for basically a lil over $400 bucks. I hear Ruger Charger may be a better option now for budget carbine, I've seen videos but have not had a chance to play with it.
Again, I've seen them used in the field. Never once did I see that it had to be replaced. Never heard about it being an issue either*.If you have done 2k without replacing that pin, buy that pin, get H&k part and get it in your bag pronto. it's on borrowed time.
Just one more thought on PCC.....at the same price point of kel-tec, is the 22 ruger charger. I know some people will scoff at 22....which is stupid. Lot of bodies got stacked by 22lr in vietnam. High Standard HDM was a legendary widowmaker. With that in mind.
great lil home defense gun, and like every firearm you will ever use the more you shoot it the better, and this one is cheap to practice with.
I want to get one and try it out. I want something I can recommend to women, and older people I know. Shooting with my dad has been very instructive to me on the realities of aging. He used to have the largest forearms of any man I knew. Now at 85 he's getting a bit more frail. The recce rifle I set up for him in the past I am not sure is best for him now in a crisis. This might be a good answer. Knowing him he'd reach for the lever action anyway. I personally want to try the 9mm charger surpressed also.
Back in the 80's someone with ALOT of combat experience I knew always recommended a m1 carbine for women and older people at home. Esp in rural areas where often women are home alone, and the ranges can be significantly longer mailbox to home. That was when they were surplus and dirt cheap, and 30 carbine was also cheap. I think todays cheap pcc are excellent for home defense for the same reasons. Is it what I would use? No, But I'm 6'5" and a rather sturdy weapons platform. I also am not much of a runner.
