Bailey MUST start against Kentucky

I have to say, I've been the leader of the JG isn't THAT bad bandwagon. I don't even think today was entirely on him with the abysmal performance by our offensive line.

HOWEVER, I am finding it hard to get excited about the rest of the season if he is still our QB, which he almost certainly will be. We're getting murdered by good teams in YEAR 3. I'm sorry, but I just can't get excited about anything with him at QB anymore. Even if he gives us the best chance at 6-4, so what? What about 6-4 is exciting?

Time to play someone else and just see what the hell happens.
If he changes QBs and we start losing games like KY, Ark, and God forbid Vandy then it’ll be way worse than beating those teams and taking lumps against UGA, UF, and Bama. We will not see a D anywhere near UGA’s the rest of the year. Bama is probably the next best but it’s a wide gap. UF’s D sucks so we need to play the player that gives us the best chance to win. If that’s JG then that’s JG and that’s up to the coaches. I mean what’s so bad about ending up 7-3 or 8-2? That’s still possible. I don’t think fans would tolerate 4-6 with a new QB either. The bottom line is Pruitt really needs Bailey to be as advertised and take over at some point.

I’m talking mop up time in this game after the outcome was known. No reason to not let your backups get game experience. I do not understand the mentality. How are you going to know what the backups can do in a real game If they do not get in a real game. I’ll tell you what, I’m certain JT or Maurer would make quicker decisions than JG. JG played one of the best halves of his career with a lead against one of the best if not best team in the country. He followed it up with likely the worst half of his career or any half by any UT Qb ever.
You must’ve missed Peterman against Florida. That was atrocious. Even JG has had worse halves in pretty sure.

Playing style of a qb has more effect than you give it credit for. I don’t mean any disrespect but hear me out. In years past they played jg the same way as they did yesterday, downhill, and the result was always the same. Blowout. But last year they had to face Maurer. They had to rush 4 and drop 7. The result was a better running game than we seen yesterday and not NEARLY the pressure JG was under but it was the same exact roster. Maurer beat them from the pocket in the first half but was unable to adjust at halftime because he’d only recently been invested in. Two weeks isn’t enough to sustain 4 quarters of play and anyone that thinks it should be is unreasonable.
Maurer shows flashes but he wasn’t great with his decisions last year when he played. It’s like his best game was that UGA game and it was downhill from there. Plus, he can’t stay healthy. Bottom line is we don’t win those games last year without JG. With that said, we should’ve seen Maurer once we got down 23. He needs reps to get better.

All we can hope is whoever is being recruited for this class is someone they like and will let have reps to supersede JG.

The options we have now aren’t going to get that opportunity

I disagree with a little of that. His best game was UGA but I disagree that it was “downhill” from there. Yes he made mistakes the following week but if “downhill” is what he did to MSU between the 20s I’d think we should be more than willing and able to work with that. Also going toe to toe with Alabama, even for a short period of time, was equally as impressive. With the way he was playing it wouldn’t have shocked me if we were right there with them at the end if he’d stayed in.

Ok, that’s fair. I’m thinking more towards the end of the year where he was a liability but the health was more of an issue earlier.

I feel that’s kinda unfair because we only seen him twice at the end of the year. One half vs UK coming off of injury and understandably rusty and one drive vs IU which led to the most critical points of the night.

We arent starting Shrout.

However, first mistake. He's out. We did it last year and it worked. Redshirts dont count, we have no depth.

Maurer may not be the guy but this "he can't stay healthy" mantra is a myth based off of him getting banged up in one game... We have NO idea if he can stay healthy until he plays again. IF he ever plays again here...

It happened in three games. MSU, UGA, and Bama

Highlight the “lie”. He was coming off of injury for UK and was obviously rusty but he did have a solid second quarter where he passed for 98 and ran for 20. That’s 118 yards of offense in a qtr. because he didn’t have a single yard in the first. If 118 yards in 1 quarter alone is “trash”, you may ask Pruitt for a job evaluating qbs.

All you have is TWO plays to stand on your opinion that he’s worse than JG and both were in one game vs Miss st. Otherwise he absolutely abused them unlike anything we’ve ever seen from JG vs ANY team.

IU was a game he wasn’t prepared to play in but how happy were you that he completed his first pass and escaped pressure for the 8 yard gain that pit is in FG range?
how long he need? hell, he practiced the entire bowl prep. wtf

as for the rest, its already been debunked so there's no point in addressing it

You obviously have never been to a practice to understand why the backups are not ready. Yes they practice but they DONT practice with the 1s.

What about that #1 ranked duel threat QB Tennessee landed several years ago.......is that guy still on the roster?

I just know I've had enough of watching our eternal quarterback, Jarrett "Three Mile Island" Guarantano, randomly melt down like a Pennsylvania nuclear plant on a hot day.

I'm ready and willing to ride the roller coaster of ups and downs that come with playing these other guys.

I thought he had on and off injury issues after that one game. Am I not remembering correctly?

How can you blame the oline? They can't block 8 defensive players stacking the box because JG can't get rid of the ball and holds it too long. Nobody respects JG as a threat. There is a reason we have a hard time running the ball. All other coaches know how to defend JG.

You didn't watch the game.. or you don't understand football. All fans blaming JG for this game in particular are the reason this fan base is considered insane at times. All analyst/former players/and other knowledgeable football media have even came out and said this game is no where near JG's fault. We have a line stacked full of 5 stars and they simply got whipped. Even coach JP said as much.

I was mistaken. He fell oddly on his head against UGA and got hammered by a free rusher against Bama. I've read on here he's dealing with a hamstring issue now? Still, I think it's too small a sample size to be able differentiate between bad luck or labeling him injury prone. VolNation does what it does though...

I watched the game. I understand the game. 4 years of the same thing and everyone wants to blame everything but the actual problem. I understand perfectly fine.

I agree with you that we can’t just say he’s injury prone and not play him. The kid has worked hard to get where he is and deserves a chance to compete. What we don’t know is how the coaches view him though, outside of viewing him as behind JG for whatever reason. Last year, Maurer had injury issues. A good offseason of workouts or two tends to help some of those slender players become more durable. Hopefully that’s the case here.
