When I moved to TN 5 years ago, I didnt pay attention to UT football. I have been a gator most of my life. And a Spartan from birth.

I watched Charlie Baggett play at MSU when I was a kid. He will always be part of MSU Legend with the defeat of #1 OSU in 1974. He was a great asst coach at MSU. He is a great teacher and mentor of young minds. Great guy.

When he was hired at UT I decided that this was something worth making me pay attention. I didnt have to. But I did because of cBaggett. I dont think there is any harm in that. I wasnt born a Vol. Half of your football team, and certainly most of your staff were not born Vols.

That doesnt mean that my following the Vols because of one coach is a crime. It is still a sad day. cBaggett is a good guy, I wish he was still on the staff here.

You didn't hurt my feelings. I just think it's idiotic to make a statement that the only reason you watched UT football was because of an assistant coach. Trust me, I don't really care whether you watch any team or not. However, I think we can both agree that he was a good coach and we wish he was still on the staff.

I said he was the reason I watched. While I will admit that it would be very tough to get me into Neyland shouting GO VOLS, I have found myself pulling for you folks to win all but one game a year. That is pretty good stuff. If I could get a Vol fan to do that for UF or MSU, I would think that is pretty cool.

cBaggett is a class guy and a great coach, something he has proven for many years.

Sad day.

also, side note: My kid had a choice between MSU and UT, both were offering academic schollys. She is going to UT for free instead of MSU because she wanted to be close to her mother and I (no pics of kid or mom)

But she didnt want to, because she was raised a Spartan and a Gator. I had to talk her into it, and she loves it in Knoxville. Im not a Vol hater. Never have been. (my 2 scholly offers out of HS were UF and UT. We all make choices in life, and then have to make the best of them)

Anyways, I dont take your ripping personal, Im glad you love your school. I like your school, and I love what it is doing for my kid. But I didnt start watching UT football til cBaggett was hired. :)

It is being termed as a retirement - it's not. He was told he would be better off leaving. Both parties agreed it was for the best, but CB does not have another job lined up or even an offer yet.

This has a lot more to do with keeping Chaney and Dooley backing him up, much
like Dooley did with Wilcox and Chuck Smith last year.

Kid is a rower. Works her tail off. Toughest, most competitive kid I have ever known, and not just saying it cause she is my kid.

Hopefully there are no GatorBill haters that would take their dislike of ME out on her. Got my fingers crossed on that one.

I'm afraid that the majority of posters on here enjoy bashing student athletes, so that is probably a high probability.

Yeah, that is message board mentality. Sometimes a person just has to vent. Sometimes players are idiots, sometimes its the fans.

As far as my kid goes, there will probably never be a reason for anyone to bash her here. Not a high profile sport, and I think most people bash lack of effort. My kid will never be short on effort.

Now. . . . my 3 year old. . . . He is already a playground legend. He is also already in the baseball recruiting database at 2 schools. UT better get on this one if they are going to keep him around!!
