Bad tailgating experience, need help identifying fraternity.

A college football game is not a family atmosphere, period, and it's not really designed to be. There are obviously areas they try to make family friendly, but in the end you are on a college campus. I also don't think those playing the music were trying to implicitly offend anyone, its just the music they were listening to. Some people like rap music, and some people like country music, and not all country music is family friendly either, yet I bet kids are singing about "getting their shine on" and their parents are fine with it.

I'm not advocating it was good for them to play the music they were playing, nor am I advocating that it wasn't offensive, but to expect 20 something kids to respect your kids or others kids is a bit naive. We all have different opinions of fun and what is acceptable, and it sounds like this is most definitely one of those cases here. Just remember, those kids who were being the offenders will be on the other end one day, and will be having the same complaints you are. It's funny how that works.

A college game is not a family atmosphere? Who do you think the other 90,000 people in the stands are?

No one on frat row would do this. And farmhouse wouldn't do it. Do whatever you want in your own house but keep the ass showing to a minimum outside. You can turn the volume down. They can't use their Lake Ave parking pass somewhere else.

It does suck when others actions ruin your experience. They shouldn't have had music that is offensive blaring quiet so loudly.

On a side note though, has anyone named the tune in this thread? Would love to download it from iTunes or at least create a Pandora channel. Sounds catchy!

Ignoring the blue font, I'll venture a guess with Donkey Punch by Avenue D.

The argument of "protecting the children" is an excuse used by lazy/bad parents.

No kids but doesn't mean I don't get to have an opinion

So... you want us to listen to and respect your opinion even though you have zero life experience with which to support it? YOU are going to define to a parent what "lazy parenting" looks like? Oh...ok! Sh*t doesn't work like that.

So many have gone off the deep end in this thread and have been in such a hurry to talk that they haven't bothered to take two seconds to listen. What are we talking about here? We are simply talking about being respectful to others so that EVERYONE can enjoy an experience. But I guess sadly that's lost on many.
And It's not about "protecting kids". THAT is lazy thinking. Screw the kids. My two daughters have introduced me to plenty of similar music over the years. Hardly stunted their growth or anything of the like. And lyrics aside, some of it admittedly was good music that I enjoy. And they have both been to MANY sporting events and were subject to plenty of idiots and foul language. I know that's part of the deal.
But what the OP is talking about is completely different. You young bucks are just not listening. We've ALL been young and done crazy things at college. But as rowdy and as stupid as my friends and I were, we never crossed that line (not purposely anyway) as to disrupt others. I STILL love playing loud music but to put speakers on the porch facing the street and to play that kind of music is a TOTAL d-bag thing to do. Just is. And they simply did it to elicit the reaction they are getting. And to simply ***** with people. Why? Because they are immature selfish idiots. Whether they are within their rights legally is immaterial. Regardless it's not like anyone is trying to take any rights away. Just be a decent human being. They were in their house, right? Want to listen to that crap, fine....turn the speaker into your house and listen away. Nobody's going to care at that point. To see so many defend the actions of these jack-a$$es, though... stunning!

Easy to tell the parents who are raising their kids in bubble wrap. At 11 years old your kid knows just about every word they may here in a song and whoever took their 3 and 1 year old to campus for the Florida game is just downright stupid. I've been going to games since I was five and guess what, no issues because my parents taught me what was OK and not no matter what those around me were doing. Now it just seems like it's always someone else's fault.

3 likes for this post LOL.

Get to the part where you and about twenty adult men walked up to the fraternity and advised them to turn it down. And if they didn't get to the part where the twenty of you advised them that it wasn't really an option.

Seriously, I've seen that point (not a family atmosphere, shouldn't bring kids, etc) made so many times in this thread. It is absolute insanity.

Where in the world did that idea get started? How in the hell do they think most of us got started on UT and UT football?

To expect a family environment at a COLLEGE football game is a stretch. To expect decorum beside a frat house is moronic.

EDIT: can somebody do a running count on the number of times "millennial" is used in this thread?

In fairness, the increase in ticket prices and the replacement of hereditary rights seating priority with donation-based seating priority in the 90s has weeded out a lot of the family attendance, especially for big SEC rivalry games.

Even easier to see who should not be raising kids! :glare:

I keep reading: 'next to a frat house, next to a frat house,........'

The OP stated they were set up a good 100 yards from the frat house.

No, it's not. Look at the amount of alcohol consumed, among other things. It's a rowdy environment, and while I don't condone what they were doing, don't expect a PG environment for a college football game, inside or outside of the stadium, especially tailgating. If people want family atmosphere, go to Chucky Cheese, although I've seen some fights go down in that place!

I was wondering about this also. Do the people on the pro rap explicit lyrics side of this discussion still think this is cool at 100 yards? Just curious.

A bit of advice. You should avoid sharing your opinions.

It will take longer for people to figure out you're an idiot..

Don't blame me, blame the parents of the kids that lead me to form that opinion. Kids will be exposed to all sorts of things, it's up to the parents to teach what's what and wrong.
