typical response from someone of an older generation towards someone of a younger generation who makes a decent point.

BS. The analogy is flawed.
Forcing the lyrics on the kids ears would be equated to forcing the alcohol down their throats.

Nobody told the students they couldn't listen to the music, it's just effing stupid to force it on the kids and the only purpose was to be an ___hole.

They were baiting you into telling them to turn it down so they could play Turn Down For What.

Honestly, most fraternities on the actual Row blare country music for gameday and tailgates. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with this one chapter, but college students are college students and I'm sure there were plenty of non-frat tailgates in the Fort or other areas blaring rap music as well.

I would stick closer to Fiji island or Circle Park area to tailgate if I were you. There are lot of non-frat tailgates over there even though it's a fraternity area, and for the most part they all just play country music. Never had a problem before.

and no one forced them to have their tail gate right next to an existing frat house. It's a give and take society, you setup right next to a bunch of drunk college kids and you are bound to see/hear things 10 year old kids shouldn't see/hear.

complaining about it on a message board will totally fix the situation, though.

You should have cowboyed up and confronted them. When nobody stands up then the nonsense continues.

They should make an area that's specifically for family tailgates. One it protects your precious little angels from hearing naughty words and two it those who could care less about your kids from having to deal with them. Wins for everyone.

Once you hit 6th grade, you're exposed to all of it anyways if you're not home schooled. Kids are a lot less innocent than you all think.

It's a college campus, not a church. The "**** you, Florida" chants by the student section all game long kind of exemplify that. Don't like it? Then don't go

To an extent I agree, but there is a line you can cross, which sounds like it was.

Put it this way, if they were blaring music that was incredibly racist, do you think they should just let it happen? I get vulgarity and such are at least to a degree subjective but there's a collective general agreement as to what is too much. If it was just one of the frat members screaming vulgarities out the window it wouldn't fly either.

I just think it's insane to A. Think these college kids give a damn about you or your kids. And B. That your kids won't be exposed to it anyways in school by the time they're 10 or 11.

Good God! This is what it's come to in this country. Again expecting someone to have a shred of decency and think of anyone other than themselves these days is just asking too much. There was a time when people would have a little more self respect. And in the end that's what it comes down to. But since we now celebrate and reward idiocy and disrespect, this is the result.
And is if the act itself isn't bad enough, you have idiots defending it. smh

I would have asked them to knock it off unless they want the police to show up.

:post-4-1090547912::post-4-1090547912::post-4-1090547912: You think the cops are going to tell people to be quiet at a tailgate at UT? You obviously didn't go the school here or haven't been to many games.

We tailgated on one of the hills beside the Lake Avenue Parking garage on Saturday. Pretty good mix of adults, college kids and young children. All is going well until the dip**** fraternity across the street decides to start blaring the most insanely vulgar rap music I have ever heard......and I graduated from UT in 2006 so im quite familiar. They had gigantic speakers aimed toward the tailgating area on the second floor of the house, out the window blaring...im talking BLARING lyrics such as......

"then ill f her brains out"
"grab her neck and f her brains out"
"smack that a and f her brains out...." etc....

There were no less than 25-30 children under the age of 10 playing in that area and we were a good 100 yards from the house and could hear that **** as plain as day. Even the younger crowd in the area, clearly college-aged kids were taken aback by it all. My three year old was asleep and my one year old thankfully doesnt know any better....but it was infuriating. It is one or two houses to the left of the Farmhouse fraternity....not sure who it is now. Can someone identify that fraternity?

It made me seriously reconsider tailgating with my family in the future unless I can get to the blue-hair section near the stadium.

I'd bet 5 bucks they were D9.

You're out! Finished at UT! Expelled! I want you off this campus at 9:00 Monday morning! And I'm sure you'll be happy to know that I have notified your local draft boards and told them that you are now all, ALL eligible for military service.
