and no one forced them to have their tail gate right next to an existing frat house. It's a give and take society, you setup right next to a bunch of drunk college kids and you are bound to see/hear things 10 year old kids shouldn't see/hear.

complaining about it on a message board will totally fix the situation, though.

Like I said in my original post, excuse after excuse. All resulting in "as long as we don't have to show any form of responsibility."

Apparently it's just absolutely insane that they just pick a song that's not as offensive. How dare society ask so much.

I won't waste any more time trying to change your mind but put some thought into that please.
It's children for God's sake. The fact that this is even a debate is just sad. Just pick a different freaking song!

You're out! Finished at UT! Expelled! I want you off this campus at 9:00 Monday morning! And I'm sure you'll be happy to know that I have notified your local draft boards and told them that you are now all, ALL eligible for military service.

Over!? It's not over till we say it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? No!

I just never understand why parents get upset about their children hearing bad words at such a young age. Being exposed isn't what "messes" the child up, parenting is. You hear most of the bad stuff by age 9-10 any way now days. Kids are becoming less sheltered and innocent each year. I'm not calling anyone a bad parent, so before Vol Nation does what it always does and twists words let me make that clear.

I'm just saying I had a set of parents who educated me well, taught me right from wrong, and didn't shelter me from the outside world. They let me see an R-rated movie when I was younger and let me play most video games I wanted but they made sure to sit down with me and discuss everything I saw/played to make sure I could handle it.

If I child is hearing some curse words in a rap song and having that affect their childhood or development into an adult, then the parent is not appropriately educating their offspring. Just saying. And this is a general statement, not targeted at anyone.

Good God! This is what it's come to in this country. Again expecting someone to have a shred of decency and think of anyone other than themselves these days is just asking too much. There was a time when people would have a little more self respect. And in the end that's what it comes down to. But since we now celebrate and reward idiocy and disrespect, this is the result.
And is if the act itself isn't bad enough, you have idiots defending it. smh

and this is what we have come to as a society, people referring to name calling while not being able to defend a point they are trying to make while having a civil conversation.

These are the types of people I went to school with, man.

It's pretty remarkable that these people can't find jobs out of school. I mean who wouldn't want to hire this batch of winners.

Hey jacka**, i already have a job and had one all through college, my life is great thanks for asking. Im just not stupid enough to bring kids to a tailgate next to a frat house on a rival SEC game

if he had THAT big of a deal he should have asked for it to be changed, like has been stated multiple times. But, nope...lets jump on a message board two days later and complain about it. Absolutely the way to get things done.

I didn't ask because it would be impossible for me to care less about what you are doing in life.

Yeah, it's his fault.
Imagine that.

It's tailgating so the opponent is irrelevant. Do you really think they would behave differently of it wasn't UF? You could have tailgated on frat row in the 90's for much bigger games and not heard that kind of crap.

It's simply unnecessary to behave like a complete moron and go out to intentionally offend.

Common sense is a foreign concept for you, too. I mean what did you expect bringing kids to a tailgate next to a frat house Florida week. You cant be this ignorant, can you?

I really fail to see what blaring profane lyrics has to do with SEC football.

Common decency is a significant portion of common sense. Ignorance on your part, I suppose.

When a university opens up the coffers and starts funneling in the money out of the fans' pockets, then they at least owe the fans the opportunity to bring their families onto campus without their children hearing graphic vulgar music.

Well, it cannot be my fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha. They would not do that. Ergh umm, they cannot do that as they have been kicked off campus for 3 years.

Can't believe boys were being boys though. Harummmppphh!

No you are 100% wrong. This game is absolutely different and if you don't believe so you must not have been a student here. So you're telling me a tailgate for Ohio and Florida are the same? You can't be this stupid can you?

As for the language, grow up its words.

We tailgated on one of the hills beside the Lake Avenue Parking garage on Saturday. Pretty good mix of adults, college kids and young children. All is going well until the dip**** fraternity across the street decides to start blaring the most insanely vulgar rap music I have ever heard......and I graduated from UT in 2006 so im quite familiar. They had gigantic speakers aimed toward the tailgating area on the second floor of the house, out the window blaring...im talking BLARING lyrics such as......

"then ill f her brains out"
"grab her neck and f her brains out"
"smack that a and f her brains out...." etc....

There were no less than 25-30 children under the age of 10 playing in that area and we were a good 100 yards from the house and could hear that **** as plain as day. Even the younger crowd in the area, clearly college-aged kids were taken aback by it all. My three year old was asleep and my one year old thankfully doesnt know any better....but it was infuriating. It is one or two houses to the left of the Farmhouse fraternity....not sure who it is now. Can someone identify that fraternity?

It made me seriously reconsider tailgating with my family in the future unless I can get to the blue-hair section near the stadium.

Probably the butt-chugging guys at it again...pulling the “Tour de Franzia"

My experience is if you go ask them to tone it back do to small kids they do. I've done it and had success both times. I told them "hey guys, I know y'all are pumped for the game and party and I don't wanna take any fun away from you. But we have some young kids over here so do you mind toning it back just a little?"
Worked both times and they apologized and all was good. In fact the 2nd time they turned it all the way off so I took some beer over and told them to have fun and play music just not quite as loud towaards the kids.
The fact is they're young and make dumb choices at times.

Sounds like a dick move by the frat. They should be more respectful of families that come to the areas around campus on game days. That's true.

But also, you can't expect to completely avoid vulgarity or be able to shelter your children on a college campus (or near college students' housing).

I see both sides of this issue, honestly. I'd say just try to use it as a teaching moment for your kids and keep in mind that tailgating further from student housing complexes is a better option for you in the future.
