FOUR-STAR WR READY FOR OFFICIAL VISIT

Top247 wide receiver Kyler Kasper of Gilbert, Ariz., is one of at least a pair of official visitors Tennessee is scheduled to host this weekend. Kasper will be making his first trip to Knoxville to attend the Vols’ scrimmage Saturday afternoon that will be part of their “All Vol Weekend,” and it’s an important visit for Tennessee, to say the least.

The Vols recently have started to build some momentum with the 6-foot-5, 195-pound Kasper, who’s the son of former NFL wide receiver Kevin Kasper. Oregon is believed to be among Tennessee’s main competition for the younger Kasper, and while he has yet to visit the Vols, sources close to his recruitment are optimistic that Tennessee might be able to make a significant move with him this weekend. Kasper is expected to receive plenty of attention this weekend from Tennessee’s staff, along with five-star quarterback commitment Nicholaus Iamaleava of Long Beach, Calif., who will also be back in Knoxville this weekend.

Honestly Pruitt was recruiting his tail off.
Hats off to Heupel in speeding up his learning curve. But Pruitt got in trouble for things he wouldn't have to worry about now. Irony at its best. His real problem was being a bad head coach.

We've been recruiting well actually since Butch. Overall a top 15 program in talent recruited since 2014. Game day coaching and scheduling have been the programs problem.

Pruitt’s recruiting strategy always left a lot to be desired. He’d swing for the fences (particularly at DB) and not have backup plans or even attempted relationships. He didn’t make the transition from strong individual recruiter to delegator/closer which was a huge reason for his overall failure as a HC. Not sure having access to a collective to money whip recruits instead of shadily shelling cash would have helped the dynamics and culture.

Good points

Edit:
I agree with that, however he did come out in a net gain when it came to losing 5 star DBs Griffin and Taylor-Stuart from Cali.

Instead he ended up with Bryce Thompson and Alontae Taylor. Both of those guys are NFL Dbs and produced better in a better conference than the other two.

But, yes Pruitt dis swing and miss a lot.

We haven't had this type of buzz amongst recruits since "09.

Accidental success isn’t planned success.

Kasper is really excited to see this weekend and how it plays out. Both he and his parents have been looking forward to this one for a while. Tennessee was deep in the Kasper sweepstakes well before Nico committed to the Vols but make no mistake his fondness for Nico is very apparent as he would love to play with him. Interestingly enough, Heupel was the QB who threw to Kevin Kasper at the combine when he was coming out of Iowa.

Getting a top 5 overall blue chip QB puts this is a different league than any recruiting cycle since the early 2000’s IMO.
