Automobilia etc....

I think Ford is making a mistake in only offering the 4 cylinder and the GT. Especially when the V6 Camaro is such a good car.

That said, Ford should bring back the LX 5.0 and make it a true Grand Touring car, maybe even offer it with AWD.

Why do you feel dropping the 6 is a bad idea? The 4 is more powerful and responds nicely to modifications.

Not everyone who buys a Mustang is buying it for the purpose of modifying it or taking on their neighbor's Camaro SS. Ford didn't put a lot of effort into the V6 Mustang, despite the presence of the various Ecoboost V6's in its inventory. Personally, I think that's a shame.

kinda agree with MG. non turbo options are nice and have heard mixed reviews about the feel of the ecoboost in the Mustang.

Of course I still wish BMW made the classic inline 6 they had for years - so smooth and such great power delivery - way better driver than the turbo 4 they replaced it with.

When I read that article you posted earlier I literally said out loud, "thank god". The V6 mustang always felt so lame to me and in my opinion, devalues the mustang altogether. When you see a Corvette, there are no questions as to what it's packing. The same couldn't be said for the Stang.

then you must feel the same way about the 4 cylinder Mustang

Plus, the Corvette isn't a pony car. Pony cars have always had engine options. They haven't always been good ones, but snarling V8s shouldn't be the only choice if I want to buy a rear wheel drive American coupe.

I actually like the 4 cylinder turbo option. That's kind of like..."i want an eco friendly American muscle looking car" lol. I personally wouldn't own one, but it doesn't bother me like the v6 did. People would put exhaust on them that sounded like @$$, they're slow, they're cheap, and they weren't very fuel efficient. I'm not so much talking about the newer models, more so the 90's and 00's.

Also, I don't really care for Corvettes. I was just using it as an example of a sports car that didn't sell out just to move more volume.

you could get 2 or 3 entry level Mustangs for the price of a Corvette. They aren't the same category. Camaro and Mustang are the comparisons and Camaro still has the entry v6.

Plus the v6 Mustang or Camaro is still comparable to v8s from 10 years ago.

The V6 has zero - 60 of 5.5 seconds and can be had for low - to mid 20s and one of the few options one has for RWD. Hard to beat for the money.

Plus, the naturally aspirated V6 in either the camaro or Mustang will run just fine on 87 octane. The ecoboost 4 will derate with anything less than 93 or 91 octane.

Yes! To both points.

The difference between an ecoboost and the v6 is negligible.

For most, it's either the 5.0 or nothing.

The average buyer who doesn't care about the v8 won't care about a v6 option. And it's not like Ford doesn't have an ecoboost v6 to offer.

I like the new color options.

Got the high flow catalytic converter put on. Oh my, the old unit was shot. It has a nice sound to it. A bit more of a burble at mid rpm range. I also have the new part afterglow, where all you want to do is drive it!

I hate those chevy commercials. I also find it telling that they harp so much on JD power initial quality awards. That is simply the number of issues encountered in the first three months. Overall quality tracks three years from purchase. Chevy isn't saying much about those...

JD Power also has a ton of categories so even competing brands can be winners if they are defined to one category or the other and then JD Power charges the car companies for the rights to advertise the JD Power ratings.
