Automobilia etc....

So the factory catalytic converter on my Honda is on the way out. Decided to replace it with a high flow unit. Not excited to go away from factory specifications, but I don't want to shell out $800 for a factory oem unit.

Hopefully I pick up a few hp and wake up the exhaust note. The factory exhaust is so quiet. All you hear is engine noise.

S2000, right?

I recently sold a house and paid off our student loans...So I'm starting to consider finally getting another enjoyable car. That's one of them.

Never a bad idea! I have no idea what is going to happen with the values of the S2000. They seem to be holding steady, with AP2s fetching between 15k-30k depending on the mileage.

If I were buying one, I would go for any AP2 or a 2003 Ap1. The 2003 seems to be the best of the Ap1s. As far as the AP2 goes, I like all of them except the Club Racer. I think the CR is nice as a collectors piece, but for regular usage, it's not my cup of tea.

Chill dude. I knew my budget.

You're missing the point. It isn't some trick to want to know a payment range. Sales professionals have a better idea of what payment relates to price of car than the average buyer who might make a purchase on average of once every 3 to 4 years. I work with clients whose payment range is literally $400 to $4000 per month.

Thanks man. I'm partial to Hondas and I've loved those ever since they came out. I never felt they got the proper attention.

I'm also thinking of going the 'old' Mustang route. We rebuilt a 66 when I was in high school and I loved that car. A lot of the 80s/90s restorations are getting up in age and there are some deals to be had.

Hell, I'm considering a lot of things. Its a fun spot to be in.

Kat, also consider this. It's the salesman and F&I managers job to sell you a car. They're not trying to get you. Sure, they'd like to sell you the 50k car, but if you tell them you want to spend 28k or under $500 a month, then that's their goal. Most of them might seem snakey or unattentive, but they do get a lot of tire kickers and I'm sure it's hard to weed them out from those who actually have some money to spend.

Incredible cars. Absolutely love to have 1...bucket list. T he even engineering on the s2000 is incredible. The ONLY thing that engine does is turn the drives haft. Nearly everything is electrice motors. The cooling fan even. Honda wanted all 240 hp to make it go
When they came out, they briefly stole the record for naturally aspirated (read no turbo) hp per liter of displacement. 240hp from 2.0...not long after Porsche took the record back with variotech... i always loved Hondas whether on 2 wheels or 4... the cars with Vtech engines like the s2000 are so fun because they make peak hp at redline like the bike engines do... they beg you to wind them out.

Drove a 2014 mustang 5.0. Nice car! I wasn't blown away though. I do get why people like them.

I also can't believe they only put a 235 width tire on those things. You would think a 400+ hp, 3500lb car would need and deserve wider tires. For reference my Honda with 240hp and 163ftlb of torque wears 245s on the rear.

Owned and sold a 2011, basically a 2014 like you drove. I only sold it after I bought the 2016 and felt the difference. 2015+ are miles better than the previous model, S197 in Mustang terms. With terrbile lighting, here is my current ride:
