Automobilia etc....

A couple of selling car rants

1. people who text you a ton of long questions rather than calling - I ain't writing a novel via text message
2. scammers who want you to send pictures or "more info" to some random gmail address
3. low ballers
4. people who ask a ton of questions that are clearly and directly answered in the ad.

I always love "Book Value Guy". "I know you're asking $5500 for this truck, but "The Book" says its worth $3000. So that's what I'll offer you..."

What is the most crazy low ball offer you got from someone who was being serious?

I'd have to think about that.

The most annoying thing right now is the spammers that send a text saying to respond to them at some gmail address. It's some ploy to get your email contact and/or then run some purchase scam like I already have a check made out for 3000 over the amount your asking - I'll send it to you and you send me the difference and I'll have someone come pick up the vehicle.

The other annoying thing is all the companies that want to "help" you sell the vehicle.

Dealing with that on my current sale (Truck). The market according to Autotrader ads is thousands over book value.

Anyone need a GMC Sierra 4x4? (don't lowball me you sumbiscuits)

I got lucky with the Miata sale. Had it up a week, got $500 over book. No bs. No low balling.

"The market" is some mythical thing that doesn't really exist to them. Its so annoying.

On the other side of that coin is the guy that won't budge of KBB Retail all because that's what the site says.

Likewise for my Toyota Tacoma a while back. I've had good luck and bad but the scam texts are a constant.

Just had another where a guy wants to buy it "for his dad" and wants to use Paypal. Not even worth pursuing.

Yep - in the end it's worth what someone will pay you for it.

We just got this little lady in on trade two days ago.

what are you going to get

Nothing for the next few years. My car is 12 years old and only has 102,000 miles on it. It's more economical for me to drive it and rent one when necessary for longer trips than to drop money every month on it to sit in the driveway.
