I'm kinda stuck on trucks. I'm in the market for a mid size. I know several people that have a Tacoma and said its the best truck they ever had. I look around online and see a few different places saying the frontier is as reliable of a truck as the Tacoma but for a few thousand less. I didn't realize the ridgelines were as admired as they are. Rarely see anyone selling theirs. My parents have a 2012 and its been good to them so far and it makes me wonder if I should just wait to check out the new ridgeline later this year.

I liked my Frontier better than the Tacoma.

The new Ridgeline interests me still. It kept all the features I loved and updated the interior...although the styling is not great (on a screen anyway, in person may be better).

I'll wait to see how they price it to decide if I will consider it again...

This. I'll never understand how these small and midsize trucks are close in price to their half-ton counterparts. Chevy Colorados and Tacomas are outrageously expensive for the features you're getting.

The interior is a HUGE upgrade. The outside (minus the normal bed) looks softer.

Yeah, Honda letting the interior stay hilariously dated was a huge mistake on the previous model.

I'll never understand the mid-size truck pricing, and I still don't see how there isn't a spot for a less than 25k small truck.

I was all set to buy one but soon figured out I got into them too late. They had stopped production a few months earlier and the prices on what was left had gotten stupid. Even the good used examples were insane (like asking 500 less than MSRP for a 35k mile truck-insane).

I really, really liked them. I LOVED the details in the interior the way so many things made sense. The 2nd gen definitely has me intrigued.

I'm surprised too, but then again look at our tastes and demands. The average new car sold is like $30,000? People demand a lot of luxuries.

I know what you mean, but people out there are willing to spend 35-40k on a mid size. If they'll spend it, dealerships will charge it.

Personally, I don't care about a 4wd 350 hp double cab tow package super truck. I'd be happy with a regular cab 4cyl mid size that has some of the interior/exterior features of a 40k truck. Truck beds are useful and that's all I really want. But I don't think those trucks exist. Seems like now if you want anything more than a/c, a radio, white paint with black wheel wells, black bumper, and grey bland wheels you've got to spend 15k more on an engine you don't want, an extra cab you don't want, and all kinds of drive capability you don't want.

I believe Tacoma's aren't even offered in regular cabs anymore.

You guys make good points.

I forget sometimes that I'm an oddity that wants fewer and fewer options and that is the last thing a manufacturer wants.

I guess its one of those things that they wouldn't know would sell until they actually put it out there.

I think the same thing about Jeep and an affordable Wrangler. They won't do it because they're hooked on the easy money from the up-optioned ones but there's something to be said about a model even a 25 year old with a decent job could afford.
