Automobilia etc....

Took the family 335i to the dragon yesterday.

Absolutely stunning. The fastest car I've ever taken up there. It could do things in the soaking wet that the mazdaspeed 3 can't manage in the dry. So much grip. It's also very easy to drive hard, and it hides it's weight well. It manages all this, while being supremely comfortable.

The Miata is more fun, but the BMW left me awestruck. When I have the financial means to do so, I'm getting one of my own.

I will say that a car with that much power needs a Limited Slip Differential. If it had one, the car would be perfect.

The 8 speed automatic transmission is amazing. I wish it was a six speed, but that's just my preference. It shifts so smoothly and quickly.

That car made a real impression upon me.

Let's see a pic of it

If I still lived there and still had my Boxster I'd let you take it for trip on the Dragon and the Cherohala. Sublime.

On the Bimmer, the 8 speed is really good. I had a manual paired with the 4cyl turbo and found the 8 speed was a better match. For the 335 though I agree a manual would be the way to go.

Thanks!

If I get one it would probably be the 328 or 320 with the automatic transmission, so the girlfriend could drive.

Love going to classic car shows. Daytona has two a year, one in the spring and the other in November. They have about 5,000 or more and it runs for 3 days. Friday and Saturday costs are $10 and $5 on Sundays. Worth the time if you're in the area. I've been twice in the 7 years we've lived on the Space Coast.

This would be fun...

Shoot! Just missed em by a day. My buddy came across a new Miata a few months before release at the dragon as a magazine was reviewing. Pretty cool.

Came across this pic while looking at classic Shelby GT350s. This one is at Spa Francorchamps and you may recognize this is coming out of Eau Rouge. Such a combo of classics in one shot. There's a wallpaper sized version if you are interested.

You know, I never thought of the Dragon as anything other than a scenic route until I retired and moved back to Tennessee. Then it was like, Wow!
