Dawson your mad with these guys for their opinions? Maybe they think AR sucks like I do. He would've never played in past years and shouldn't be on the field now. He can't get open against the big boys.

The numbers don't support this claim. In '07 (I throw out '08 for WR #'s since with no QB play you don't have anything to work with) the top three receivers, by a large margin, were Taylor/Rogers/Brisco. Against FL/GA/AL here are their #'s.

AR- 13/177
LT- 14/122
JB- 14/118

I'm not saying he's a guy to build an offense around but at some point some sanity has to cut through the vitriol. The guy is demonstrably nowhere near as bad as some on this board would argue.

None of them produced against the big boys. I never liked any of them. They are not UT quality receivers.

I heard from a friend close to the Athletic department and the coaching staff who saw it first hand that Rod Wilks told Austin "not to worry, if you wanna play you will play. I'll see to that!" After that Rod summoned the wind into a vortex and was carried off. Could be a rumor though but I trust my source.

Great RW post. Love the quote. Welcome to Hollywood.

Austin Rogers has plenty of speed, his problem is size and strength. If you can scheme and get a LB on him then he can play a role. Having said that, thers are probably 5(minimum) better options at WR.

Where is all this speed you guys are talking about? There was a post that Stephens threw to him in the Bama game that he should have run under if he was fast enough.

I liked Rogers at WR last year. There are two problems. He isn't flashy. He's white. So people assume he sucks. I don't like when he plays either but its true.

I thought Rogers did a great job with Eric Ainge throwing his way. this year He was really no worse than the rest of the receiving crew we had. With the ducks being thrown their way nobody could have caught them.So lets not count him out just yet.Good coaching and offensive scheme he could be a good receiver.

Agreed

He had some of the best balls thrown to him. What about the diving drop against UCLA? That wasn't a bad pass. A good receiver is suppose to make that catch. Also if he was fast enough he would have just run under that ball.

Dude, let it go. He isn't slow. Trooper called him a deep threat at one time. The guy is playing WR in the SEC, stop acting like he is a horrible athlete. It's borderline annoying.

I love it when people say that AR isnt a UT quality athlete when there are players on the team that say he is one of the better athletes.

Quotes? And will somebody please tell me how fast he is?

He's not the best WR on the team, but he's not the worst by far, either. None of our WRs are good, really. We have a lot of in between guys. I'd pick any group sans UK, Vandy and MSU over ours. Maybe Auburn's, too.

If he isn't the worst, then who is?

Maybe all those guys who couldn't beat him out for playing time? Cut liked AR as well. Funny that hardly anyone noticed when Taylor or Briscoe got the dropsies... only when Rogers did... even though Austin was the guy going across the middle.

I'm not going to assume that Mr. Rogers beat anyone out for playing time. I will assume the position, however, that CPF had a serious man-crush on him in hopes of landing his younger brother, kinda the way he loved him some Clausen family in hopes of landing Jimmy.

I don't think that's the case, but I do think Zach has more potential as a complete WR.

Oh... OK. If you say so. That hardly explains the 56 catches he had year before last though.

56 catches for over 600 yds beat ALOT of SEC WR's out... and many of UT's "greats" for a single season.
