Austin Rogers

What the hell has Austin Rogers proven? He had a good season in 2007 when everyone else did, other than that he has done absolutely nothing.

Thank you. Anyone ever consider, and I'm not saying this is true, that maybe he caught his 50 some odd passes because the defense knew he wasn't going to beat them deep and were just plain not afraid of him? Sometimes I got that feeling.

I am certainly not singling Rogers out, Briscoe is only slightly less bad.

true but skill wise AR isnt as good as some of the others (jones, moore, hancock, paige) but again theres more to being a football player than just skill. you have to do the little things and i think rogers has done those. I see him as the slot guy but gettin a lot of playing time this fall

I can deal with him as a slot/possession guy on 3rd and 5, underneath pass-type situations. However, he is rendered useless if there isn't talent on the field with him. He just isn't going to beat any decent defensive players.

yes but the fact that you're saying that he's the worst reciever on the team when in no way is that the truth he's proven that he can play and have a solid year in the sec which nobody else has proven yet

I'm saying I would rather play anyone but Rogers. Give Moore and Paige and whatever freshman we get in this year as much playing time as AR has had in the past 2 seasons, I bet they have more "production."

All that said, I hope the guy catches 100 balls for 1200 yds this year. It probably won't happen, but I will happily admit how wrong I am if he goes off and gives us some solid production on offense.

but the fact that he gets singled out doesnt make sense

Precisely. And the issue was never to make AR into some kind of receiving juggernaut. I haven't heard anyone claim he's a "great" receiver or anything. I have however heard a guy who's numbers are demonstrably solid somehow singled out as though he were playing football from a hoveround. It's the complete dichotomy of the perception vs production that I have trouble reconciling.

A lot of it has to do with the fact that most of us remember a time when at any given moment, every receiver on the field wearing orange was a threat. Kind of the way Florida is right now.

ok i agree with u that paige should at least be getting a shot but moore has played his fair share the past 2 seasons and has only made a few plays

i remember those days too but it just doesnt make sense to say that he isnt that good when nobody else has done anything either i mean he at least had a solid year as a #2

That's almost exactly the same #'s I hoped he would get this year to prove me wrong.

In all fairness Moore was a Fr when we last had a QB. If last year Ainge had still been here every D in the SEC would be acutely aware of the threat Moore posed. Nobody, including the likes of Wyoming, was all that afraid of our passing game last year.

None of the other WRs have proven anything to me. So AR gettng singled out gets old.

Well, when you are one of the most experienced receivers on the team and are getting playing time over fairly highly regarded recruits, people expect results.

I think the trio of Lucas Taylor, Josh Briscoe, and Austin Rogers would make up our most unathletic trio ever. And guys Rogers shouldn't be on the field on third down. He's not reliable. His best clutch catch was against UCLA. And he had big key drop on a deep ball in that one. I'm just tired of this guy. If he can't take it all the way get him off the field. The job of the offense is to score. If he doesn't show the ability to be a touchdown maker then get him off the field. He just doesn't have it guys. You want to make him fit but he doesn't.

not every pass play is designed to go the distance

+1......how can you get so worked up over Roger's... did you see our QB production last year!

Yeah and I heard GJ talking like TO. Saying it would be a war before the Florida game then he goes out there and doesn't produce. He has dropped some key third down passes also. He's almost on my blacklist.

He put up results with an experienced QB. Our entire offense was a wreck this past season.
