Auburn coach out?

Petrino got caught red handed with the affair after that wreck lol…totally different circumstances here so far unless Auburn has more than just hearsay
Dude - I get that the affair is unconfirmed. I'm speculating. If the affair took place, there is a pretty strong probability Auburn has more than just hearsay. Lots of times, these kinds of things are open secrets.

I’m betting they have more than hearsay, also betting this is a hit job by one of the Auburn boosters. They maybe one of the only programs outside Texas with more meddling and incompetent boosters than Tennessee. Timing lines up with them having him sacked.

I'd expect this to be handled with a small buyout by Sunday. You don't recover from this and it is out there burning like wildfire by Auburn to force his Harsins hand to accept the deal and maybe somehow stay married.

I know she is his subordinate.

I also know in today’s day and age, if he tried to pull anything that was unwanted in any way, she has the power to destroy him.

I’m not giving this a round of a applause and condone it.

But, if it’s like most situations, there wasn’t a threat or ultimatum that she do certain things or find another job.

I found the following in the ESPN article posted today:

Harsin, who is out of the country on vacation, said he hasn't had any conversations with Auburn leaders that would suggest he won't be back for the 2022 season.

That sure makes it sound like this is an inside job to take him down. Also, does anyone find it strange that a few days after Signing Day, and you needing to replace your Offensive Coordinator who just quit, you are out of the country on vacation??? I sure as hell wouldn't be taking a vacation under those circumstances.

In today's day and age, that won't fly. The general thought on situations like this now is that, by definition, an affair between a boss and subordinate cannot be consensual because of the boss's ability to affect the subordinate's career.

I'm not sure I agree with that (seems like that factor should be considered on a case-by-case basis), but that's how it is.

I take offense that you think our meddling, incompetent, crazy ass fans/boosters are second to anyone. We are NUMBER 1.
You, good sir, should apologize for posting such sacrilege.

I don't care what happens in anyone's bedroom, that's between the people in the relationship. As long as the staffer doesn't say she was forced to do anything to keep her job, it's no big deal imo and all that is his and his wife's business.

That said, it's nice to have a crap show in the SEC that doesn't involve UT.

It won't work like that, especially in this day and age.

“People affiliated with the legal affairs of Auburn have been reaching out for answers as to why there's been a staff exodus and why there have been so many issues within the program, a source told ESPN.
"It was almost like they were building a case beforehand," another source, who is close to Auburn officials, told ESPN.
Auburn has long been among the SEC's least patient football programs” they will pop him!

Harsin resolute amid Auburn inquiry: 'No Plan B'

I see that her degree is in communications. I guess they communicated a lot, you know, about the REALLY IMPORTANT STUFF.

I know I am alone in this, but I’m tired of tearing people down in a situation where there are two consenting adults.

No one should lose their job for this
Harsin is supposed to represent the college in a good light. Cheating on your wife isn't doing that. However, I see what you mean. While what he did was wrong, everyone makes mistakes. But imo, Auburn is going to try and use this to fire him for cause. If this were Bruce Pearl that this happened to, there is no way Auburn would do anything about it.

If you were going to fire every employee who had an affair

Eric Ramsey would disagree. Auburn has some nutbags, kid wore a bullet proof vest to his graduation bc of the death threats he got. Texas and Bama are pretty crazy as well but mostly Bama pulls in the same direction.

All about winning to losing. No one cares as long as your winning and if Harsin would have beat bama this year and went 10-2 or so this wouldn’t be an issue now.

Another thought on this-

Even if there is no evidence from the affair or there is no contract morality clause that would allow Hardin to be fired for cause, there are options Auburn could explore to recoup the 17 mil. Look no further than our own situation with Pruitt for what I mean.

We had a bad coach with a big buyout, self reported some violations, fired everyone involved and ran anyone being paid off the roster. NCAA isn’t likely to punish a program when the responsible parties have all moved elsewhere.

All Auburn would need to do is self report a couple violations- one payment that wasn’t from a private party, one unofficial visit with university-funded accommodation, etc is all they’d need- which almost certainly took place, intentionally or not. For that to happen, Auburns admin would need to believe a few things:

1) those violations are just serious enough to fire with cause without damaging the school’s reputation too much,
2) next season likely wouldn’t be competitive anyway with a new coach or lousy current coach and lots of transfers, and,
3) they have a full handle on the extent of violations within the program- would be very bad if there was more going on than they thought and the NCAA found someone on the payroll they don’t know about. This step is probably part of why our internal investigation was so lengthy.

Let’s all HOPE the above happens as it would be a disaster for Auburn and cause even more portal activity we can benefit from. Would also weaken their 2023-24 recruiting which would be fantastic news. More likely, the school just pays the buyout and moves on.

He is using state funds to pay for his mistress. Consent isn't even remotely an issue.
