Probably need to calm down about everybody until they at least play a couple of days in 60 degree weather.

Jair Jurrjens just got put on the DL. Guess the oblique strain is a little worse than they first thought.

I'm more critical of lineup construction the first weekend of the year than I would normally be because there's a new manager to evaluate. Putting McLouth up there gives him a central role in the offense and extra plate appearances. Seems like you'd want to see some success from him first after what happened last year.

Sort of a typical Bobby Cox-style move, though. Put a guy right in the role you hope he can fill and let him sink or swim.

You'll get no argument from me on McLouth. It's pure wishful thinking IMO.

Great game so far. I was going to come unglued if they would have called Heyward out on that steal.

Nate McLouth needs to be hitting 8th until he proves he can bat 2nd . . . not the other way around. He looks lost, again.

Im not giving up on him till the all-star break. I would bat him 8th though.

Teheran is starting in AAA. Would be a good September arm to have, if he's not called up earlier.

Minor.
Man it's good too see Uggla in a Bravo uniform. Sorry bout all the posts, just excited baseball is back. What an Ass beating this is!!!!!! Heyward with 2 hits this inning.

I'm also happy to have him on our side

McLouth made it clear that confidence is the problem. Let's lower our expectations and front-load the lineup.

Stick A-Gon in the 2 and move McLouth to the 7 or 8. 1-6, we would be as stacked offensively as any team in the NL.

A career .250 hitter with an obp under .300 isn't a solution to a hole in the top of a lineup. I've seen A-Gon at the top of the order and it isn't pretty.

Gonzalez wants to drop Heyward in the order because he should be an RBI guy, which I get. And I agree that he's somewhat wasted at the 2. But that's still where I'd probably put him right now, if you take it as a given that 3 is Chipper's until he retires.

(Which I wouldn't. The post-Chipper future of the heart of this lineup is (or should be) 3 Heyward L / 4 Uggla R / 5 McCann L / 6 Freeman L, and if it were up to me I'd go ahead and set the lineup that way with Chipper hitting 2nd in front of Heyward. But I'd have have no problem with it being Heyward and then Chipper as long as Chipper's effective. Just no McLouth up there.)

I'm glad Mike Minor got called up to start in Jurrjens place. He should have been starting over Beachy anyway.

Beachy better beware of Ryan Braun today. Dude is on his usual tear. I miss watching Hart, Braun, and Fielder in a Nashville Sounds uniform.
