So far, I think this team has exceeded the coaches' expectations as well as the fans.
But still lots of roles to be defined from the bench, and grown into on the court. We've also yet to experience playing from behind in the second half, or playing under end-of-game clock pressure.
I only have radio, so I could have missed this: have we run a full or half-court press on anyone yet? Have we played with our small lineup yet? If so, did we look competent, or did we become less productive?
I wondered why everyone just seem to completely overlook Memphis. They still have a lot of talent and it’s a bitter rivalry. Anything can happen in that matchup. You have not seem Memphis (Floppin Tigers) play then, even without Wiseman they have a lot of 5 star talent? I don't think they will go 12-0 probably 10-2. We have the advantage is early games because of our experienced senior guards.
As I mentioned in another thread,,, I appreciate the good start and I know how fortunate we are to have Barnes as our coach,,, I also know we have some stark weaknesses under the goal that so far have not been exploited. If we are going to go very far this season we will have to have extraordinary play by our guards.
The problem with depending on perimeter points as your bread and butter is the certainty that there will be games where the outside shot just will not fall and unless there is a dedicated go to in and around the basket that can be depended on the the points simply will not be there.
One of those nights you could just see coming. We actually played well enough on D to win. FSU caused a lot problems with their D, but we also had way too many unforced turnovers too. We just dont have the horse power on offense this year, and can't afford to shoot the ball poorly from the field and beat good teams. 21 turnovers to 5 assists shows you too just how poorly we played. How accurate. Unfortunately.
