I'm not convinced MH has $5 million to spend after buying out the contracts of the current staff. How many coaches are we already paying who don't work for Tenn anymore? Aren't we still paying both Jerry Green (honestly I've forgotten) and Buzz Peterson?
Nah... I think they are officially off the books. I see where you're going, but $5 million/yr plus $6.4 million to buyout contracts isn't chump change...
...what are the realistic chances the University will go "outside the family" for a replacement? I hear names like Gruden, Stoops, Tedford, Pelini, etc...
I like Gruden...don't get me wrong... but I'm not sure that's much of an accomplishment since the Bucs share the division w/ the 'Aints, the Vick-less Falcons, and the Carolina Road Warriors.
I think green is done in January and Buzz may have 2 years left they didn't settlements so the university if paying them monthly
Peterson's contract ran through the 2008-09 season with a base salary of $220,000. Incentives and other deals pushed his annual income much higher than that. Under the contract terms, Tennessee owes him a $1.36 million buyout, which must be paid within 30 days. [ UT adds to Peterson's contract ]
The Vols still owe former coach Jerry Green one more payment of $210,000 from his buyout contract.
The problem here is Coach Fulmer and Mike Hamilton are trying to force Vol fans to accept mediocrity and I for one am not wavering. It's time for a change, time to support our Vols even more, the time has come.If Hamilton can't do the job,bye to him as well. Those guys are "Burning down the house"!(that Neyland built)I know Im going to here it over this but Im still not sure we need to fire Fulmer although Im getting closer. If this does happen I would love to see Leavitt come to town.
