Ask me your questions about WVU...

There are a slew of examples that prove this wrong. Did saban go 13-1 in year 2 because of talented freshman alone? Maybe he had some talent on his team that he developed from the prior regime? Pearl turned a losing bball squad into a no.2 seed in year 1. Talent is important but has to be cultivated mentally and physically. Butch Jones doesnt know how to put his own pants on, how could he guide and develop a football team? Without Dobbs bailing him out he was exposed and our guys were undersized, under prepared, and under motivated.

I apologize cuz I am still half asleep but what exactly were you proving me wrong about? Seems like were both saying pretty much the same thing here, right? Butch Jones sucks a big bag of Richards at coaching football plus a slew of injuries and we get what we had last season.

Dobbs having to bail him out and then without him we suck is a direct reflection of botch sucking that big bag of Richards so I'm lost?

And what are you saying about saban/bama and year 2? Like I said, maybe it's cuz I haven't been awake long but I'm missing your point?

This year? I would say 16 on the 1st team depth chart - maybe more.

This WVU team has more talent than any other in history.

WVU is the 14th best program in CFB from a historical standpoint. WVU has the most wins of any program without a national championship. The Mountaineers have played for the national championship in 1988 and just missed out in 2007. WVU has 3 BCS bowl wins and a .500 record against the SEC.

This team... is loaded... and we know that another like it may never come again.

Look, WV has a total population of 1.8 million. The program has always done more with less. It's always been good, but rarely great. And when its had the chance to be great something has happened.. like Major Harris separating his shoulder against ND or Pat White breaking his hand against Pitt, to break our hearts.

The downfall has always been depth. WVU's starters are as good as anyone in the country. This year that's especially true... but they can't afford any injuries. If Grier goes down the season is over. If David Long gets hurt the defense is toast.

The Vols get a fresh injury free WVU.

WVU doesn't have the resources of Tennessee. It doesn't often get a five star recruit. But this season Tennessee gets to play a WVU team with the chance to be more than special.

Think of the 2018 Mountaineers as if they were a thousand year flood...

I apologize for sounding negative, but your definition of "great" and "loaded" is so pointedly flawed as to completely negate the point you're trying to pawn off on us that you're "great" and "loaded" right now.

If your amazing, potential, hopeful seasons were ended by injury to one person, you were neither loaded, nor great. And if that's the definition you're using for those terms now, you've lost any semblance of reliability when approaching a program that has actually experienced what it is to be both loaded and great.

We know what it is to be those things, to the extent of knowing beyond the shadow of a doubt that we aren't, and neither are you.

It will be a good, competitive game. We are more talented and should win.

and eight of their 15 wins came against UK and Vandy and another four came against Ole Miss and MSU and Mizzou. So they are exceptional at drubbing the bottom of the barrel in the SEC. The problem of course is that nobody was more "bottom of the barrel" in 2017 that UT.

Well let's all be happy then that we're not the 2017 Vols, eh?

I mean, we don't yet know what we are, but the chances we look and smell like the 2017 Vols are slim to none.

Go Vols!

I will answer as honestly as I can.

Hmm.

What a dumb response.

Sills was playing qb a couple years ago. He led the nation in tds, was a biletnikoff finalist and is a 1st team all american.

Jennings had 97 catches and 1,100 yards last year.

They were also playing with other really good d1 receivers early in their careers who are now in the nfl.

Pretty sure sills has more tds than yiur entire wr group combined for their careers. Same with jennings and receiving yards.

I live in chattanooga and i respect UT football, but you guys put way too much stock in high school recruiting rankings and other things that just dont matter.

We'll see who's right next weekend.

Actually recruiting rankings do matter based off blue chip recruits. The past 10 national champions were all in the top 5 recruiting and had the most 4* and 5* blue chip kids. So yes actually they do matter.

The team that controls the line of scrimmage, wins the game. Let’s not talk talent...Tennessee has plenty of talent on both sides of the ball. My big questions are...
Can WV run the football?
Can Tennessee get consistency from the O-line?
Will Grier have time to throw the ball around the field?
Will Tennessee control turnovers?
Will Tennessee come away with TDs in the redzone or settle for field goals?

Personally, I think this is a good scenario for Pruitt. I expect good play in the secondary and I believe the game comes down to the team that controls the line of scrimmage and executes in the redzone. I am not sold on this WV team. 7-6 last year and everyone thinks they are going to compete for the big 12. I could be singing a different tune come saturday, but then again, a whole lot full of analysists could be eating crow as well. All I have heard is how bad Tennessee will suck. We’ll see. They said our basketball team would suck too. How did that turn out?

They stopped the game and laser timed a 40 for him? That's interesting.

SJT, I'm all for you giving WVU fans the what-for, but you've lost track of your own conversation.

You said after having watched several games, you've yet to see him [some WVU player, I suppose] get behind a defense in the open field.

So wvu2003 suggested you go watch their game against TCU.

And your response was asking if they stopped the game to time him in the 40? That's a complete non sequitor. You weren't talking about 40 times with him, you were talking about a guy getting past a defense.

I think maybe you're taking part in too many conversations at once, brother. You're losing track of which is which. :)
